    I did say MODERN DAY, you seriously can't be comparing the 1940s with today's political and social arena. Besides this was a small town type of incident that affected the individuals in that area. They had no way to let the rest of the country know on real time the injustice going on in their town but today we have this little thing called the internet. Good try ;)

    Even more reason to think these numbers are hogwash......

    that would average 118 crimes per person in the country

    ROFL:eek::rolleyes:

    That doesn't pass the sniff test!

    You really think that the outstanding individuals that VOLUNTEER to protect the constitution are going to turn against the people they give their lives to protect? I highly doubt it... I agree with your comment about the federal reserve though.

    My point exactly, then why have guns that surpass hunting capabilities if you believe the individuals serving in the armed forces would never turn against the people they swore to protect?

    You're advocating just what most pro gun people want, access to the same arms the military has, for just the same reasons you mention.

    Thanks I agree!

    You seriously believe that it's acceptable or in good taste to use the current tragedy as an opportunity to push your personal agenda?

    Prayers to the families and children of the massacre in CT. I am still not giving up my guns. Lack of guns caused this. Killing without fear of retaliation. Again prayers to the families of the victims and survivors. I wish I could have been there to give my life in order to save theirs.

    This issue is related but in exactly the opposite way you two think. First off, I am not anti gun, but in this case, like most other mass shootings, a mentally ill person got a hold of a gun. It was not a lack of guns. More guns might have made it bigger, or a little smaller, but he would have gotten the drop on some of them and it still would have been a tradgedy.

    There is no need to remove guns from everyone but there has to be more responsibility and power of a parent/therapist to keep someone with dangerous tendancies from getting a hold of guns.

    I would give up my personal weapon(s) if it would prevent something like this from happening, but it wouldn't, and it would allow other tragedies to happen. My prayers are with all of the families and our nation.

    Kind of both. Crazy people never willingly walk into a fight. My opinion is that the threat of an armed teacher would have probably turned this guy away. But maybe not, his problem was personal. Something happened to him and he lost it. We may never know exactly what happened because he killed his mother and his girlfriend is missing. Whether he had a gun or not, this still would have happened.
