You obviously need to study history. This nation has already gone through one civil war (it can happen), in which the existing military and similar divided into sides. None remained intact to favor only one side over the other.

As for popular support, that didn't happen overnight prior to the last civil war either. It occurred over time (a surprisingly short time), just as it's doing now. Very soon, the only thing still missing will be a trigger - an assault on the Second Amendment perhaps - which pushes one side or the other into action.

When it comes to self-defense, for example, the Second Amendment ("right of the people to keep and bear arms") is as valid today as it was when written roughly two hundred years ago.

In the end, this nation is sharply divided, seemingly more so, and on far more issues, than even before the last civil war. Separation does not automatically have to lead to war itself, but that's almost inevitable if people can't hold a civil tongue.

...they were heroes, ...but they didn't stop the carnage...

...how to you intend to stop the carnage when the SHTF?... throw your shoe, or counter w/ force?... even worse, if you're a cornered cat, i.e. like in a school like this...

...i think the point though is that there are places where the schools have been made into a "hardened target".... unfortunately, here, over the years, they've made our schools "soft targets", ...the deranged maniacs are cowards, but very committed, ...they seek out soft targets, knowing they'll be in full control... ...most take their own life when confronted w/ armed resistance...

You are correct. Israel, Swiss, are both very homogenous nations as far as ethnicity, religion, economy, and social class. Thers is much less friction among the general population than we would have here. They are united in defense of outside invaders.

I was watching Oreailly tonight, his guests had some interesting points that people are bringing up. As far as gun control, NYC Chicago, LA have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. Yet in Chicago ppl are being gunned down every night. One guest said the VA Tech gunman was determined to be mentally unstable by a VA judge, yet he still passed a background check and was able to purchase firearms.

I really don't think that anyone will take away guns, but they will make them harder to obtain. Im fine with a longer waiting list or more strict background check. But remember a TON of ppl want ARs. Every gun store is packed with them. Look how many ppl are employed by the gun industry and how much revenue it brings to the economy.. I dont see any thing drastic happening any time soon.

...every time they rattle sabres, ...it has the opposite effect... you've got a whole lot of folks now suddenly want to buy guns they'd never considered prior to the hysteria.... ....from about dec 2008 through the summer/fall of 2009, ...it was about impossible to obtain an AR-15 from an FFL/dealer... of course, w/ supply and demand, ...the gun prices skyrocketed, and so did the ammo prices...

Just watched Pierce Morgan with a gun advocate....Pierce was pretty fired up.

Im confused. Did the gunman use his bushmaster or was it found in his car? I've heard conflicting arguments.

Good question, I keep hearing 2 different things too.

    1) his bushmaster was found in the car and his pistols were used in the school

    2) he had a pistol and kids said a BIG gun

    Which one is it?

Interesting vid, didn't hear that side of the story. But then again the media doesn't like to publicize the use of guns for self defense and usually skew the facts, as pretty much all the major media outlets are far leaning leftists.

Yeah originally I heard he had 2 handguns and they found an AR in his car. Pierce said he used an AR. That aws the 1st time I've heard this. Although I have been trying to avoid the media for the last few days.

I would like to know also.

To kids everything is big, especially in such a traumatic event. It would be nice to find some concrete info on this as it would be simple to do, there are only a few hand guns that use a .223 rem.

A coroner would have no idea what gun was used, only the caliber, unless they were given other info.

Well , the police collected the guns in question , did they not ?

The police chief stated earlier that the pistol was only used for the one self inflicted shot to the shooter , correct ?

I've read several things that said two pistols, one was a sig, the other I can't remover and a bushmaster were registered to his mom. Although I don't know what was actually used in the shooting. Kind of hard to trust the media though
