yes but back in those days everyone had the same guns..... just one side may have had more.

If it were the entire military complying and we had choppers, jets, AND a higher number of ground forces coming at us, i think you would find that a lot of people would call it quits. The US military isnt like the british back in the day. They are some of the highest trained people in the world, and very smart at that.

Im not saying i wouldnt try, but im also not going to say that id be the group that wouldnt be able to get caught because theyd have to deal with what...... 500 peeps with civilian weapons.

I've served in the military and have owned dozens of guns in my life but about the only thing I've shot in the past ten years is a shotgun while pheasant hunting.

However, protection of oneself, one's family, and one's property is a fundamental right. Thus, the right to keep and bear arms is written not only into the US Constitution but also into many state constitutions. Although gun laws have limited the legality of possessing just any type of bomb, rocket, or firearm possible, the US Supreme court has recently upheld the right to possess normal weapons even if the municipality forbids them.

Speaking of the military, the “gung ho” military types who blindly follow government orders to disarm and herd civilians into concentrations camps might have a historical basis in other countries but is mainly only Hollywood hype in America. Just look at all the veterans here – pretty much all of us are normal people, as are those who are actively serving today. With the exception of a few idiots who might have slipped through the cracks, no US soldier is going to follow an order that is in clear violation of the US Constitution. In fact, when swearing the oath to enter the military you swear to “...support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

I just hope enough servicemen would be willing to defy an order from a higher up. It would be awesome if we could have the military on our side in this sort of situation.

TRDguy did it for me. For everyone that thinks they can hunker down and take on the Gov, read a little story about a thing called MOVE in Philadelphia. Shit this was a city police force. Your ass is done for if the military or law enforcement gets involved. Not everyone is going to have your back. In reality it would be a lonely battle

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-05-11-philadelphia-bombing_x.htm

I'm curious as to what the military people on here think about the situation. A bunch of you preach the right to bare, but when the CIC calls the order what are you going to do? And what do you think about the people who say they will put one in your chest if you come and take their weapons, and to those that say they will gun down our military and police for following orders even though they might not totally agree, how do you explain?

okk. so this proves nothing, a city dropped a bomb on what sounds like a black militant group. It ended up costing them a ton of money. And most likely the police and military will disobey these orders to take guns from civilians because it is in the constitution and most will not want to shoot civilians for protecting their rights. Of course we wouldnt open fire on any police if they came to claim guns, we would give them the option to walk away because we are defending our rights. I also disagree with your statement that you can just increase your home protection instead of owning a gun. Do you really think your home is that safe? Im pretty certain someone could get into your home no matter what alarm system you have

If we were to start getting bombed by the government then there would no doubt be a civil war. Militias would have already have been formed by then and would be fighting anyway they could. I really dont understand how this is a question. I could be bombed, in order to have my rights taken away from me, OR I could fight like hell. Something I am really good at. REALLY good at. Somethings are just more important to you when you've had to earn them. Nobody's taking shit from me.

Ok buddy your giving canada a bad name. You just called the U.S a third world country. haha Canada probably has just as much guns as the US and a smaller population. Canada also has just as dirty cities as the US. When some drug addict canadian comes to your home(yes canada has them) and tries to kill you he probably will succeed. Also the US is not a war torn country as you describe, their are not mass shootings everyday, and you will not get killed at disneyland. haha. for most of the rest of you you represent gun rights well good job

I couldn't have said it better. All of those that have served are still out there, and still have their training. Yeah, good luck to the government, like I said earlier. Damn near every male member of my family has been/is a Marine. Let's just say we all know how to right REALLY well, too.

I hope i didnt send the wrong impression. I wouldnt want to give up my guns either..... nor would anyone i know. All i was saying with that "military" piece is that they have the tools and power to be able to find a militant group hiding in a town or in woods. Shit, id fight like hell too, but at the end of the day when there are a horde full of civilians with rifles and handguns vs tanks/choppers/men/jets, it wouldnt be much of a fight.

With all of our sweet technology and weapons you would think that finding people in afghanistan would be easy too, but when they do simple shit like hide in bunkers and trenches covered up with mud and branches, it makes it very hard even for well trained units. As for the national guard ( who would be doing it), the equipment and assets they have doesn't scare me one bit.

The whole point of guns the 2A is to use them against those that would take them away. Those that would just hide don't understand the Constitution at all. Sad.
