Do a paracord wrap. Can be found on youtube on several different ways and styles.

Installed sand color Wheelskins Genuine Leather Steering Wheel Cover on mother-in-law's 2001 Corolla last summer. Near perfect fit and color match, great feel when driving the car. One hint soaked cover in water for a couple hours first before attempting the install, nice tight fit when dry. Also, used a "baseball" stitch to close the gap between the cover sides. Wheelskins run from $45+ to whatever on-line. There are over a thousand alternatives, see eBay for ideas & options. Wheelskins are a tried & true product IMHO. Outstanding customer support should you need it. Good luck with your leather cover project.

That looks great! Did you stitch it yourself, and was it easy to do?
