Have had 2009 Tacoma, 4x2, reg. cab, black for past 2-3 weeks. Just noticed that the gray vinyl sun visor on passenger side has about three wrinkles that extend from just below the airbag warning sticker to the attachment point on head liner. The wrinkles are 1-2" in length. Not on driver's side visor. Went back to dealer and service person showed me another new Tacoma with same wrinkles. It sounds like they all have these wrinkles in the visor. Correct? Any way to remove them without damaging the visor? Maybe I should just not look at them. Advice???

    Thanks,

    Jim

That's the thing with car manufacture's. When you go in and show them some defect in manufacturing. They blow it off and say the defect exists in all vehicles. Like I give a shit if it exists in other vehicles. It's a friggin defect on MY vehicle and I want it right. Unfortunately that dealer isn't gonna help you out. Maybe wait for a TSB to come out, call the 1-800 #. Let those bitches have a piece of your mind.

Take it in for service and tell them you bought a NEW truck that is supposed to have sunvisors WITHOUT wrinkles in them. Tell them you don't care if another truck on the lot has the same issue.

My s10 sits outside, thru all types of weather and it doesn't have a saggy headliner or wrinkly sunvisors and it's 20 YEARS old.

Make a big enough bruhah about it and they should take care of it.

    Thanks for input.

Yesterday, I met with Toyota District Parts & Service Manager re problem with wrinkles in sun visor. When I pointed to the wrinkles and indicated they were a manufacturing defect, this manager argued that they were not. He said that others also had them. He accused me of being rude when in fact, I was very polite and reserved. At first, he refused to give me his business card when I asked for it. He remarked--"what are you going to do--sue us?" This person was really off the wall. I went into the dealership and told the GM about this. When I got home, I called the "800 number" for Customer Experience, explained the situation and they told me that they "concur" with the District Manager. Isn't that nice?

The District Manager offered to replace the wrinkled visor at no charge to me but said that the replacement would also likely have wrinkles. When I mentioned the fabric lined visors as another option--he said I would have to pay $60 each since they would be an upgrade.

I would like to bring this issue to a higher level but I do not know who to contact. Ideas? I do plan to contact the owner of the dealership as his service manager was siding with the District Manager. I thought Toyota was high on quality and customer service but this experience has really awakened me. Never will I buy another Toyota...

What made you think this. All car manufacturers, except the premium brands (lexus, merc, bmw etc..) have good cust service. The rest are nice to you while you buy the vehicle, other then that they are scumbags.

If that's the case, I would be in there every week getting my sunvisors replaced. I would become such a dick that they would give me the fabric sunvisors just to keep me out of there.
