Sorry, I don't know about droop distance.
    You'll have to educate me.

Is droop distance that thing that happens on a really hot day when you're all sweaty and your....oh nevermind. This is a family forum.

LOL when you jack up the chassis until the tires are off the ground. Knowing the measurement compared to what it is at ride height should tell you if you have any additional suspension down travel.

This is what has me worried about maxing out at 2 inches. I don't want it to be super stiff but I want two inches of the lift.

Thanks for the great info, Smitty. I'm getting ready to upgrade to some 6112s on my 2nd gen. I have one question for you. If you could to back and do it again, would you do the AAL, or would you get medium duty replacement Dakar leaf packs (light-as-possible repleacement rear leaf pack)?

For my uses the AAL has been great but I do not regularly tow or haul anything heavy. I do tow this aluminum boat and trailer but it's maybe 1000-1200lbs (boat itself is maybe 300lbs) total and I can pick up the tongue one handed. No issues with rear end squat, bounce or sag.

If and when these wear out I'll call Wheelers and look possibly into getting their 8 leaf progressive pack or something similar for lighter duty.

Yes just about 2" per paper spec, maybe a little more, not 100% sure. I have the setting on max notch #6.

    Hello to all
    New member from San Diego.
Had Off Road Warehouse in San Diego install the combo Bistein 6112/5160 on my 2016.
Kit came with the Icon 3 leaves pack. I kept my overload. Full 2 inch lift on rear it's mor r like 2 1/2 .no issues no vibrations whatsoever. Truck by luck runs, drives and has no recalls. Just hit 9k on the truck and had the second service done before the lift. Very satisfied with quality of installation. Wallet did take a good hit, but it's worth every penny. Reminds me to the KORE suspension I had in my Ram 2500 Cummins 4x4...worth every penny

So I decided it is a must. I have so much thread left over I had no chance of getting on socket on. Found an angle grinder to borrow so I'm good now.

For those in need of an angle grinder. Harbor freight has them for about $15.

I have zero experience working with suspension systems and was able to install the 6112/5160's and a Wheelers AAl by my self in about 12 hours. If I had to do it again I could probably do it in eight. It was quite the learning experience for me. I can't even explain how much this write up helped me out, thank you!!!

For those that do not want to do this without a spring compressor, I got the top mounts (KYB SM5640) off Amazon for about $50 and had a shop assemble them for $40. If you do it this way you don't even have to touch the alignment cams. When you instill the front shocks, I recommend using a floor jack to lift up the front wheels. I put the jack under the rotor where it sticks out just below the mounting bolts. Jacking it up about 12 inches made inserting the assembled shocks into the mounting holes a breeze.
