You did exactly what I plan on doing. Truck looks good.

 

Believe all the progressive 3 leaf AAL are made by Deaver whether it's headstrong, Icon or wheelers name on the invoice.

@smitty99 thanks for taking the time to write this up for everyone. Was thinking about doing a write up for the rear Progressive AAL. Made my own set of instructions last night via a couple different threads and the official Headstrong instructions.

Installed my Headstrong Progressive AAL today. What a pain. Really wasn't that bad, just time consuming. Got really worried after I lowered the rear differential with nothing holding it but the drive shaft... I was like WTF did I just get myself into. But the grinding (which was the part I was most worried about) went super quick and easy, and I was able to jack up the rear end after I got the new leaf pack Installed and manhandle the axel pretty easy into place.

I agree with you I love the ride of the 3 AAL... Nice and smooth, especially since I have some space between the frame and my SumoSprings now; about 1/2".

 

The rear definitely took the longest! I think the total job took me and a buddy (who is halfway mechanically handy) about 5 hours. I am glad this helped. Feel free to compare my write-up with your experience and PM me if you think I should make revisions. I'll add you as one of the contributors to the thread too.

 

I'll take a look at my instructions I made for myself tomorrow and send them to you... Can take a look and add anything you think may be relevant. Right now, all I can move is my fingers... Body is beyond beat. Worked about 4 hours on the truck, took a shower and then had to host a crawfish boil and do all the cooking.

Warning these instructions left out putting your sway bar back in.

Any resulting collisions due to sudden lane changes at high speeds can be blamed on smitty99.

Seriously though if you want to leave out your sway bar that's installers choice. Smitty99 telling you not to do it goes against sound mechanical advice and leaves him open to liability claims.

Also some might view this as a dick comment, instructions tell you to lower vehicle to torque lca cam bolts without wheels installed. Meh... it is what it is lol.

Lastly... I was going to say something about putting loctite medium strength on LCA bolts opened. But that's installers own decision I guess.

 

One more thing, you didn't mention putting on the lower washer and rubber on the Shock.



Step 12 is perfectly written for this to happen.

 

Nice write up.

 

Shock assembly instructions are provided with the shocks and include diagrams. Pretty straight forward. If you can't figure that out then you shouldn't be attempting this in your driveway.

Oddly enough guys have created threads on here asking for urgent help as they put the spring perch upside down. I'm sure you've seen that thread.... haha
