The kit comes with all brackets and hardware to mount to the truck's frame. The ones that mount to the shock body are optional and not cheap. One of the dampers comes with the brake line extension block also as the 5160's are side specific.

I installed the 6112s as well and couldn't be happier, definitely would recommend them to anyone who wants a step up from the 5100s - now if i could just get these BFGs to balance out right -_-

This is a really good write up. I have the 2nd Gen 6112s/5160s and couldn't be happier.

How are the super bumps working for you?

maybe a silly question but if i run this setup at #5/6 in the front and with a dakar pack in the rear would i clear 33s? i think this would ride much better than the nitrochargers

Smitty creates a good thread and you give false information about the towing system?

The ball sits on the draw bar, not the hitch. When you imply to remove the 'hitch' to save the frame in the event of a collision from the rear, you are talking about this piece... so you are actually correct that removing the hitch is a good way to stop from the frame from bending in the event of a rear end collision, but that's not what you meant, so you are still wrong. Also, the hitch is often hit even when the draw bar is removed becasue the bumper is flush with the receiver of he hitch, leaving the frame susceptible to damage no matter what.

Hi Smitty, question bout your fox roost shield. Is it universal? I see you installed it on non-fox shocks. I need something like this for my new King shocks, do you think it will fit?

    Thanks,

Any recent pics after it settled?

Also, you used a 1.5 AAL correct? Wondering if I maxed out with the #6 and #5 settings would it be level or sit nose high?

It has not settled any more than the last pics I took. I think it might look nose high if I went #6 and #5..... I like the way it looks now.

Yes I used the 1.5" progressive AAL. Mine came from wheelers but the ones from Icon and Headstrong are all stamped "Made in Canada" so I believe they are the same set. You just pay more for some than others based on vendor and "brand names"

Love the superbumps, very "cushiony" when you do happen to bottom out. Much much softer than the stock bumps. Also have heard they are softer than the timbrens. I know a guy who ended up returning the timbrens and going to Superbumps and he prefers the superbumps. I believe they hit a homerun with these Superbump stops.

Lift alone will not clear 33's... there are many other factors that go into the fit of larger tires.

The 5160s are side specific only in that one (drivers side) has a brake line extender bracket. If you could not find any passenger side 5160s, you could in theory buy two drivers side 5160s and install they are not valved differently and should mate-up and fit fine on either side. You obviously just would not need the extra bracket. For awhile there was a shortage on the pax side 5160s so some guys were buying two left side shocks and mounting them without issue to my knowledge.

    DUDE........

    My 6112 broke... : (

The hex bolt on the top assembly snapped off. It sheared right in half. Now I cant remove the top nut to adjust the clip anymore. When I called Bilstein they blew me off and said it was my fault. But I spoke with a regional manager at an expo and he is sending me out a new one... thank goodness.

I need to run at 6/5 to clear my 285/75's

Looking at the tool marks on the top nut and the shaft, curious if it was overtightened or someone used an impact gun on it. It doesn't require much torque to get tight. I think it was something ~13-15 ft lb.? That's a clean break though.

    Who did the install?

Oh man. I was thinking about 6112's, second time in 20 minutes Ive heard 6112's breaking and Bilstein's poor customer support. I'm not so sure now I may just go to Icon stage 2.
