Do you need to change window switches for this to work? Does this mod still allow you to partially roll windows down? I might have missed the answers. Thanks for the help.

Im putting this on my todo mod list. Just to make sure, with the newer DEI 535t unit, do I still need 2 of them? One for up/down in the front and one for up/down in the rear of a double cab? Or is the 535 capable of up/down on 4 windows?

EDIT: Just found the answer to my question. 2 are needed for up/down on all 4 windows. :typing:

Pro Tip, ensure you have a solid ground connection when doing the auto programming, if you loose ground in the middle of programming, it'll brick the unit. Also, they do not hold up very well against water, if they get wet, you may brick it as well. I in inadvertently left my door open for a short time while it was pouring rain, and had to replace one. But, its a an easy PnP after you have wired it up the first time!

If you are able to determine which wire sends signal on factory alarm to be able to program in the auto roll up function upon locking and arming, please let me know. I have attempted to determine this twice now and could not figure it out, so gave up, I have extended the wire to easily connect one I am able to determine which it is.

I have also had an intermittent issue, I think it has to do with the logic of the factory auto roll down function, every now and then, I loose the ability to open and close windows, unless my door is open. but in the 5 years I have had this mod, it has only happened 3 times, the first 2 times a reprogram solved it, the 3rd time, reprogramming didn't, but after a couple weeks it all started working as it should.

I did those mods but now when my door is open nothing works until I close the door
    Does anyone know why?

    Thanks

I get it intermittently, sometimes, mine only operates when door is open and not closed. Spent several weekends trouble shooting this and found nothing.I have found that when you loose operation, typically reprogramming it seems to do the trick, I think it has something to do with the driver window factory one touch still inline with this system. I think the OEM one touch gets confused and visa versa. You would think that some better form would have been out now with the jump in technology since, but I haven't found much in the way of other one tough window module options...

I thinks its just a cheap china thing that does the job at low level functions. Would be nice to have something a little less rudimentary.

You had any intermittent issues? Perhaps that's been my issue this whole time

For anyone doing this install with the newer 535T unit, you do need to use the 5-pin connector whereas the OP didn’t have to with the 530T. The white and white/black wires on the 5-pin are the ground points for the up direction. Also, if you don’t have a T-tap, a wire nut works just as well (for now?).

And if anyone was hesitant that the 4-door setup would be different, it’s not. There’s a lot more wires in the door switch harness connector but the color coding for the window controls is identical to what the OP posted.

Huge thanks for this write up, I haven’t even left the driveway yet and I love my new window controls! This guide made a somewhat intimidating job easy and straightforward.
