I have had this old DELTA double gull wing toolbox for a long time and it was time to mount it to my 2014 double cab, long bed 4x4 TRD Sport. First though, my truck is white so I wanted a black toolbox. Read on the forums here about how to paint aluminum. EASY. I used a sanding pad and sanded it all down good. Wiped it all up with mineral spirits. Let it dry good. Then I sprayed etching primer. I was impressed from the first spray with that Rustoleum stuff. Went on easy and it has a nice rough finish...like matte camo look. Then I sprayed two coats of Rustoleum automotive lacquer on there and it is done! Waited a week before banging it around. Putting it on was EASY. I got a piece of aluminum angle with holes pre-drilled. Just so happened that I only had to open up the holes a tad bit. I used 5/16" stainless bolts and big 1" washers inside the rail. Then I installed the angle brackets from the back of the truck, slid on a washer, a lock washer and then used some big wingnuts. I had all this stuff laying around so I didn't have to buy anything. I then slid the angle aluminum back to the front of the truck bed and laid my box on top. I crawled under, located two convenient holes in the angle and used a Sharpie to mark my tool box. Inverted the box, drilled the holes, put it back in place an locked it down with some bolts, washers and locking nuts that once again I already had. Came out great. Hope you guys like it.
