Had good luck watching them side-by-side this morning - B rose faster and generally stayed a little higher than A, which is what we would expect based on the sensor positions. Values seemed stable - didn't fluctuate quickly.

Think we've got this figured out!

Did you have any luck with the diagnostic mode comparison?

I did manage to try this out. It is a bit tricky since you can only do one or the other. But I did manage to put it in diagnostic mode and went back and forth from that to the obd dongle. Using the torque app I was able to verify that the temperatures being reported were reasonable and seemed to correspond to the 115°F and 130°F activation points.

Did you use the 21D9 PID equation below?

    For sensor 1 (Pan Temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    21D9
    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 1
    Short Name:
    TFT 1
    Minimum Value:
    0.0
    Maximum value:
    220.0
    Scale factor:
    x1
    Unit Type:
°F (there is a degree symbol in Torque)
    Equation:
    ((((E*256)+F) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

For sensor 2 (Converter outlet temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    21D9
    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 2
    Short Name:
    TFT 2
    Minimum Value:
    0.0
    Maximum value:
    220.0
    Scale factor:
    x1
    Unit Type:
°F (there is a degree symbol in Torque)
    Equation:
    ((((G*256)+H) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

The cheap ones are known to be defective from the factory a lot.
Not sure if there is much you can do. Post up what you are seeing when you try to pair it. There are several pin codes listed through this post. Does your phone even detect it when in discovery mode? Are there any LEDs on the dongle that indicate it is working?

I haven't found where the app even comes to a point for you to enter a PIN code. Would this mean there is not one set up on the device if not asked to enter a code? Usually is the case with other stuff. It does connect and run but hasn't ever asked me for the pin.

You need to buy the real version. Free dosnt allow custom PID's

I do have the full version. I'm not talking about PIDs, I'm talking about entering the PIN for the bluetooth device.

Gotcha... You do that from the phone itself. Not from the Torque app.

OK, neither the phone nor the app has asked..............that's why I can only assume the bluetooth device does not have one set up. And what if I wanted to change it from something besdies 0000 or 1234 or 6789? No place to do that either.

Plug it it and place your phone in discovery mode and also scan for devices. Not all of the bluetooth devices ask for a pin. My Kiwi did, as did my Plantronics head set. If the device is working, it should show up under bluetooth devices. When you get to that point, start Torque and turn your ignition on so that Torque and your ECU will communicate and sync. look under settings to set it up as needed.
