Most of these gauges are on most vehicles anyway. I have mine mounted right abouve the vent closes to my right hand while driving. Its just like a scan gauge/ultragauge, and as long as ur not holding it and driving i see it causing no more distractions than those devises or a gps or radio.

Doesn't take long to look at a gauge on a phone either. Don't turn this into a perceived safety debate. I'm sure you do plenty of things in your car that someone else could perceive as unsafe. That's why I wear my seat belt & assume everyone else is hammered drunk & out to kill me. Haven't had an accident in a couple of decades.

So is there two different sensors? is that the reason for the two PIDS we created to get this info. Do most people just use one or the other? Scratching my head why we made two pids to get roughly the same readings.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Yes, 2 sensors in the trans, one is in the pan, and the other is in the torque converter outlet.
If the trans is slipping you will see the outlet temp spike sooner than the pan temp.

Ok thanks for the heads up on that. Which one is the pan temp and which one is the torque converter?

    Pan temp should be sensor 1 ((((A*256)+B) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

    Outlet should be sensor 2 ((((C*256)+D) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

Just a few expensive & DIY things...
Thanks for the temp sensor config.

I haven't caught up with this thread in a while, anyone exported their dash setup that they want to share?
I'm running it on a Galaxy S4 (dash command on the ipad though) I'll have to steal the wifes Nexus and load it up for a larger view.

I had a lot of luck using Torque to data log air fuel ratio, timing, boost, etc. as I worked with engineers to fine-tuned the ECU tune on last car. The app, and especially their web site that illustrates logged data (also allows you to export data as a CSV file), is awesome in my opinion.

I've created an extra PID on mine for a more accurate speedometer since I have 33's. I used PID 010D, and the equation (A/1.475). Seems spot on with the GPS. Assuming the original PID is accurate, my actual speedometer was off about 2~3mph compared to what the ECU was outputting.

Oh and after reading through this thread, Torque has an option to automatically disable bluetooth and go into airplane mode when the phone isn't connected to power. No need to exit Torque all the time.

The device? My old HTC Incredible (AMOLED version).

That is an awesome find. I run this app on a few different cars and trucks which all run custom sized rims and tires. It's always bugged me that the mpg was off.

Torque Pro. It's all the standard icons. I've modified one of the themes to blend in more with the Tacoma.
