When mine is connected to the truck, the list gives three potential displays. Trans temps 1 and 2 are not green and not able to be used. Trans temp 3 is green but when it displays it reads the exact same temp as the engine coolant. I'm thinking this ain't right.

I plugged in the PID from a few pages back:

and I get a vastly different reading. One that appears to correspond with fluctuations in the transmissions activities (locking/unlocking torque converter, gear changes, accelerating, etc)

Hmm.. I wonder if maybe this has to do with different brand adapters maybe? I have no clue how those sensors work. all I know is I got it to work on mine:) I do have the more expensive adapter, the bafx.

hey guys i have had the torque app for a while now but just getting my tranny temp pids setup for my 07 tacoma. im using these settings

    For sensor 1 (Pan Temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    21D9
    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 1
    Short Name:
    TFT 1
    Minimum Value:
    0.0
    Maximum value:
    220.0
    Scale factor:
    x1
    Unit Type:
*F (there is a degree symbol in Torque to use in place of the *)
    Equation:
    ((((E*256)+F) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

For sensor 2 (Converter outlet temp):

    OBD2 Mode and PID:
    21D9
    Long Name:
    Transmission Fluid Temperature 2
    Short Name:
    TFT 2
    Minimum Value:
    0.0
    Maximum value:
    220.0
    Scale factor:
    x1
    Unit Type:
*F (there is a degree symbol in Torque to use in place of the *)
    Equation:
    ((((G*256)+H) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
    OBD Header to use:
    left blank

does it matter if i set the maximum value higher then 220 or will that mess up the equation?

    thanks guys.

my trans temp reached 246°while towing a 16' foot trailer wifh my crawler on it. so i think youll be fine with the default values if you are thinking that the gauge wont reach beyond 220°

sidenote: i was surprised at the trans temps when towing so im getting an auxiliary trans cooler with a fan. a big part of the high temps is most likely lack of proper air flow to the stock cooler as a result of my aftsrmarket bumper and skidplates.

yeah i had all this setup on my old phone but forgot what i had it set to. just want to make sure that adjusting the max value doesn't mess with the equation. when i had it working on my phone i would regularly see the temps at 215-220 while wheeling and 230-240 while on hills with all my wheeling and camping gear. but now im on 4.88 gears so that should help.

The max value is what the gauge will display up to. You could set it to 1000 if you'd like.

Daytime shot. I guess it's not THAT big. Doesn't really bother me where it is now. Was about to rma but I decided to try and do a manual update to ICS, after having a hard time figuring how to do it, and it runs soooo much smoother now. Touchscreen response is fixed too! It's a keeper.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Just curious, is that on all the time? do you turn it on? or somehow does it switch on with vehicle power and start torque? May be dumb questions, but I was wondering.

Well for now I turn it off at night. Then back on. Lasted me a few days before needing charged. Doesn't use much battery having everything off except GPS and Bluetooth. But It boots up pretty fast. It has an ac charger so I bought a little power inverter for it and will have it charging while ignition is on. Although Idk if that's a good or bad idea. I heard you don't want to leave tablets on while charging. I'll try it and see if it gets hot. Or maybe I'll put in a momentary switch for the power inverter and switch it on when needing charged.

I have an NFC tag on my Wireless Car Charger Cradle for the my Note 4. 'Bing' - automation grabs the NFC and launches torque and maps - plus charges the phone with no cables.

Wow never heard of those. Looked it up briefly.. I'll have to look into this! Have any writeup links or anything for me or suggestions where to look first? Or are these pretty easy to figure out? I'll def research some more but in the meantime....

Yeah, I'm interested too. This would be even better, turn ignition on, tablet powers up sensing movement or what not, once on, loads torque and starts. :D

Looks pretty easy. Gonna try these out. Not sure how it'll work when my tablet is going to be on the mount where the tag will be, permanently. As in I wouldn't be 'tapping' it to the mount. I assume it would just start when I boot up the tab. Idk I'll see and keep you posted. Might be a while. Should work for your phone or whatever if you're going to mount it each time you get in vehicle though.

I use an app that when the phone gets power, it triggers various things, and will do the same when power stops.

This might work better for me. What's the app??

I think what I'll do, is keep the tablet on, but in airplane/sleep mode when not in use. Have the ac cord plugged in from the inverter to ignition. Then the 'auto' app to turn everything back on and run torque. But I'm still unsure if it's safe to leave the tablet charging non stop while screen is on...

Well I fuckin jinxed myself I guess.. sigh.. the damned tablet is on the fritz with the charger! It's only been charged a few times, since I got it that is. It appears that it's an aftermarket cheapo charger. Looked up the oem charger and ordered. Sigh. If it's not one thing it's another. Now awaiting charger. Fingers crossed. If this doesn't work, I still have till end of this month to rma... Then shop for another. Yay.

The app is Actions Lite. (Free version, all features available, but limited to 2 profiles)

Torque doesn't stress my HTC Incredible all that much, so the charger can keep up. GMaps can sometimes drain the battery faster than it can charge, and sometimes will overheat. HTC devices usually suspend charging when they overheat. I originally tested Torque on a OG Droid, that would easily overheat and reboot. So 'safe' depends on the device.
