Aisin made the transmission. I have to believe they have the know-how to make or source the proper ATF fluid.

Big thanks for the replies guys! I can get 14qts of the aisin ws for under $100 compared to almost double that for the toyota. One thing i've learned is to stick with the OEM style fluid on high mileage automatics. ( i was a ford guy).

Best is a tough one. For me, max life is best. Walmart sells em at $18 per gallon and is readily available.

Pretty sure I saw the 4-qt MaxLife jug in the high 20’s last time I went to walmart. I’ve used Idemitsu in the past; their 5-qt jugs were $35 four years ago, now up to $50. I would still get either one before Toyota brand WS.

Covid pricing. At least gas is going down in my area. Down to 4.39/gal. Almost a dollar difference over a month.

doesn't maxlife have seal conditioners and stuff for high mileage, worn-out transmissions? not sure I want that in my healthy trans

that’s why I said best for me is max life. May not be best for someone else. Also, I don’t see why max life would hurt a new trans at all.

I mean the last scheduled service in the maintenance book is at 100,000 miles. So that is the “lifetime” of the vehicle according to Toyota.

I'm working on a 4th lifetime. WS until 120,273, WS fluid again until 303297, MaxLife from then on out. Haven't noticed any difference in function with the different fluid
