WTBnew wheels/tires: but have future mods to think of

    Im buying new wheels and tires tomorrow. 2009 4x4 DC SB. It's my DD, but don't really drive it much, (always take the bike). I am active, camping, hiking, etc. I've offroaded a bit, DEFINITELY plan on more, and want to be able to go where I want without issue. I want the MT classics or something like them. Do I need beadlocks? Why or why not?

    I plan on going with the AllPro LT set up in front, rear unsure. But DONT plan on lifting more than a few inches. (Will raise it up if the situation calls for it, but for DD, no more than 3")

    I will have the new wheels/tires on before the suspension changes. What is a good setup to go with now that I wont have much trouble with, that will still be good later with the suspension additions? I want to to be a little wider than stock, I was thinking 16x8 or so, but tires, unsure! I love the look of the BFG AT tires, but sizes?

    Almost all True beadlocks are illegal for street use, just keep that in mind.

    I would probably go with the OME kit or even the 5100's at 2.5" with a 1/4" top plate spacer. Just so you have descent lift for offroading a little, and you can still fit a 285's, so that when you get the LT kit, you wont have to buy new/bigger tires....

    In the rear just do a AAL with maybe some 5100's.....

    I personally like the look of 17's, and a 17x9 is nice.

    i really wanted to avoid wasting money on any suspension mods. I'll be going with AP lt soon, so dont want to get something just to have to sell it later, you know? whats the biggest tire size I can fit with stock suspension?

    what are the pros and cons of 16" v. 17" wheels sizes?

    Most beadlocks are not DOT approved, the reasoning (not saying it's SOUND reasoning) is that if the beadlock ring comes off at highway speeds, then the tire could easily come off the rim and hit something...

    ah, didnt know they were not DOT approved, that sucks... seems unlikely to get pulled for them though... no? are they way more expensive than regular wheels? i wish all wheels were bead lock, lol.... tire changes would be a snap! they do just go right on right? then you put the outer rim part on, bolt it down, and fill 'er up?

    and back to my original q:
    what is the largest size tire on say a 17" beadlock MT classic I could fit on my stock 4x4 suspension without issue? Think they will look too small with the AllPro LT set up later?

    I have 265/70R17 on my truck. I do have a body lift so not totally sure they would fit without a lift. They are also BFG A/T tires.

    damn TW and youtube, lol... instead of studying ive spent hours figuring out just what to do with my truck... i really like the thought of the all pro LT, feels just right for what Im wanting, but thinking maybe I could save a lot of money to spend elsewhere on the truck by going with a good suspension set up, maybe mid travel? im not looking to jump the truck, or haul ass through the desert, but it seems like the AP setup is not ALLLL about that, more about having more travel, but useful on all trails, etc.... damn damn... it is just so much money to spend on it, plus the extra install stuff, spindle gussets, no idea the cost involved in that. I could install some of it, but im no welder...

    -5100 rear shocksy
    -2" toytec aal

    Wheels and Tires
    -KMC 17x9 Addicts
    -Goodyear MTR w/ Kevlar 285/70/17

    and wow, looks great. Extended travel, is like mid travel i guess?
    any thoughts?

    yeah i saw those... eh... not a fan...

    maybe ill just go with a normal set of wheels, i doubt ill ever need beadlocks anyway, i think i just liked the idea of easily replacing that outer portion if I mess one up, almost like a three piece wheel.

    So I'm still unsure of what to do wheel wise. Damn damn damn...

    Okay, just gonna go with the Icon stage 4 set up, so now that I have that set... From Icon:

    Recommended tire size 285/75R16, wheel 16X8 with 5" back spacing.

    I'm having a hard time finding these wheels. I like the MT classics, but they dont make them for this application?
