no. We are going to try it. But im not sold on it. For one person it would be great. Im too long and broad for the bed though. and with devin its a tight fit. Bed is like 48'' wide and only like 60'' long? can't remember.

That and i just don't think the old fiberglass and wood frame will hold up to the abuse.

Is super cool though and my god spacious when open.

Probably end up on the lil taco to try it for an overnight somewhere once it get just a bit warmer.

 

Haha i only really want...whatever it is...for camping, when stationary. Though the few times i go through a bunch of mud like we did in wyo it would be great to be able to keep it out of the bed. So it might have to stand up to at speed travel. I dont want it to look ghetto rigged so tarpedo is disqualified lol!!!

Gf is on board and likes the ideas for outfitting it for summer adventure use, since half the time shes the one thats like "lets go camping tonight, sleep out in the truck somewhere" so she will be a good help for this stuff.

I realize that. I like the idea of a soft topper but i think the legit ones wont fit with everything else i have planned, which is why i might need to get crafty with some canvas

We've dealt with lows of 20s, so i don't mind anything above that. Have a good sleeping bag for that. Tent works well too there. My biggest problem is access to places and most are snowed in.

ah. Yes we are getting stir crazy. But with both rigs not in wheeling condition, i don't have plans to go anywhere soon. Hope to have igor totally refreshed in 2-3 weeks. Then Franks overhaul will start and not finish for months i bet.

yeah whats so bad about that? In a lot of ways it'll be easier than going up.

 

I'd love to get a Mr. Buddy little heater. Have been wondering if I could hang it in the tent and provide enough heat without having all the windows closed up, or if it would just head out too quickly. 'cause we did have snow in the Valley of Death

 

Oh, the first option no doubt!! Middle of the night, big wind gust comes through and you just hear a loud crash, whipping canvas, and me swearing up a storm at 2am.

My friend is an awesome seamstress, and she just blew her acl skiing...maybe she needs a project to occupy her time while she recovers lol.

 

@SconnieHailer used one many time with his RTT. But he has a shasta like mine and would set it down in the annex room so the heat would float up. Said it worked great.

sewing canvas is not easy. Be one hell of a project!

 

yeah, that extra extension would help to funnel the heat in, but still have the header outside the tent proper. I'm wondering about just hanging it from the center support and leaving it on low while we sleep. As long as you don't sit up too fast and bash your head, it might be OK. I think they have a safety feature that turns them off if they aren't vertical, so that should stop it from catching the place on fire if it falls... I hope.

But i do think they are pretty safe.

 

I don't think even on low you could run it all night. They put out a lot of heat. I would also be concerned with CO poisoning. I know they have a detector for that but IMO, it would be risky to run it continuously in that small confined space.

FWIW, I have a Mr Buddy heater your welcome to use on a try before you buy basis. I also have a CO detector I will give you.

Im transitioning myself to a new stage in life, where i want to take my dear sweet time with projects now and make them look real good, vs before I was always just trying to get it done so i could use it and enjoy it, because i was young and stupid and cheap. Now im a hair older, and stupid and not as cheap but more broke, however more patient. So when i redo my wiring im going to heat shrink all my connectors and clean it up even more. Probably not going to solder them, but take more time and clean up everything a but more.
