I have an idea that might just be stoopid enough to work, what if you adjusted your mirror out enough that you could slip a chemical handwarmer into the housing, then adjust the the mirror back? It would work for a couple hours, I think...

 

Haha that might work for times where you really need it. I'd prefer something more permanent.

Hard to find much info on taking apart 1st gen mirrors.

 

Here's another hokey idea. I had a professor that made a heated computer mouse by taking some hair dryer coil and a 9v power supply. The same principal could be adopted on the larger 1st Gen mirrors I'd imagine. Just put a thermal interrupt in incase it starts overheating.

 

Didn't some of the 3rd Gen 4Runners come with heated mirrors?

 

I don't think so, mine doesn't have them, just a heated back window. I just always scraped the frost of my mirrors, then pointed my heater vents out toward the window, and it worked fine.

 

So I figured it was a beautiful day to take some pictures, I even went and did a half-assed winter wash on the 4R! #oemislife

Bet they are all color matched thouh and won't match the tacomas colors.

So looks to be doable, not sure it is something I want to take on tho for my situation. Now If I lived where it gets that cold all the time, it might be worthwhile.
