I was wondering if this set up would be effective at all: stock manifolds, stock "y", all 4 cats intact, "x" fitting from Magnaflow adapted to stock y pipe feeding into a pair of magnapacks. I planned on dumping them before the axle also. I know this subject has been beat to death but I couldnt find anything in the search as far as the front half of the exhaust being totally stock. I also figured the "x" fitting might balance the exhaust pulses a little better since the stock y pipe is so unbalanced...
