Bought a new 2010 Tacoma TRD 4x4...dealer said it had xm...after signing...found out it was only xm ready. Dealer wanted to make it good so he split the difference, half of $625.00 to add it. Thought about it, decided to spend the $312.00. They called a week later said parts were in...made appointment 8am...spent all day in the waiting room...they finally got done and I found out they installed a Sirius radio!? And, seeing as my truck already had the xm antenna on the roof...I found another Sirius antenna on the roof above the driver cab! No one even asked me about this, it was a complete surprise! So I ask the service department what happened. They said that when they order the xm package, they only send them the sirius radio which the existing antenna won't plug into! Now isn't that special!? Anyone else out there have a similar problem? I talked to the dealer and he was totally unaware of the problem and that he would look into it...didn't make any promises though... Anyone out there have a similar problem? They told me that they can't get xm radio receivers!??

imo sirius > xm, so you might have lucked out a bit in that regard, haha.

it's ashame because the tuner installation is pretty easy and the tuner parts are not expensive.

anyway, the xm antenna is definitely compatible with sirius. in fact, this week i ordered this - http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1154 so i could install my sirius sportster 5 but use the factory xm antenna. i wanted my sportster instead of the factory receiver because the text descriptions/info on the factory receiver SUCK.

They ordered the wrong parts. All you need is the Toyota "fit kit" and tuner. I installed both of those in my truck in about 30-45 mins. $300 for parts.

I have the part numbers and Toyota Install procedure on my computer at home. Let me know if you want it and I'll post it up.

That sounds very familiar. When I bought my truck in October, I was also told it had XM. When the girlfiend and I were driving it out of the lot, she was trying to transfer my subscription over to the truck. That is when I found out that it DID NOT have XM. I did a U turn in the lot and went straight to the salesman. He then changed his story and said that it is XM "Capable" and that I would need the receiver and fit kit installed. Ok, so we argued a little. I then told him that to make me happy, since he basically did not tell me the truth, to go to the parts manager and have them sell me the parts at THEIR COST. I said that they would not lose any money and not make any more money off of me. Also to go to the service manager and get them installed at their cost (no cost to me since salesman screw-up). The Parts mgr said $320 and the service mgr said $400. I almost hit the roof. I said no and walked out. I then went and had all of the toyota junk ripped out of the dash and a new sony head unit with all the goodies installed (blutooth, dvd, xm, nav). The best mod yet.

    All dealers are alike.
