some of this, a little of that
I think it has something to do with you having a trial subscription. It is the same on my wife's car, it just skips over those channels, a few others as well.

While Stern is standard on Sirius, he's an upgraded package on XM (it's so stupid that one company is still so separate while claiming to be so merged). You can call XM and pay like $12 for the upgrade for your trial period. After that you have to pay for the premium subscription price.

    Yup.

I didn't care about Stern, but the pricing on the packages was so close, I figured fuck it and got the Select package.

    $14.49 for Select
$9.99 for "Mostly Music"... but I like the comedy channels and some of the news channels.

Going a/la carte adding what I want to the cheaper package would end up being $15 anyways.

So I've got Stern... $174/year (plus taxes and other charges, I think my sub was $190 total).

They eliminated Lifetime and I don't believe you can upgrade and keep the lifetime.

Others have complained that they wouldn't let them transfer their lifetime to a new radio.

Oh,I was told that I could transfer up to 3 times. But if I upgraded from factory I would ask to wave the fee, thats what I did with the wifes.I would think that you just need to ask. What could it hurt?

For the same reason you can't get NHL games on Sirius without an additional package...

It's really a bunch of BS because they're the same company now...but both networks remain separate in programming in some cases.

I had Sirius in my 2005 (aftermarket) and loved it, but now have the builtin XM in my 2012 and while it's still "kinda" the same, it's really not. Sirius uses multiple satellites that move around the western hemisphere, while XM uses geo-stationary satellites...so XM reception is shitty if anything if obstructing your view to the south. I almost never lost signal with Sirius unless I went underground into a parking garage or tunnel, but XM I lose if I drive by tall trees....

I am a bit happier though because I love listening MLB and NHL games, which XM has...and even when I had Sirius I never listened to Stern.

Interesting about the satellites, I have always bitched about loosing signal with my XM, what does it coast to switch from XM to Sirius? Have had XM for like 6 years, love it.

I pay Yearly on my wife's car and when it is ready to expire I call up and cancel and they give me a promo deal of $80 for a year subscription !!! I think that's a fair price ! Pandora is only $36 a year with NO commercials !! So if I upgrade can I get Sirius on this very unit in my truck?

I don't *think* you can get Sirius with the stock receiver. In my '05 I had an aftermarket head unit running Sirius.

just called sirius/xm .They said you can upgrade your subscription with the stock stereo
to receive Sirius channels. it is cheaper if you upgrade during the trial period because they prorate the time left.
