Hi- just put in an XM radio and tied into the 2009 Tacoma factory radio via the auxiliary input. Both the volume on the XM radio and the factory installed radio is at maximum yet the sound level is only moderate. Any noisy road surface or the windows open drowns out the radio. Anyone have any fixes?

Does it have a seperate amplifier? I remember something about when I installed my setup in my JBL system a little while ago stating that you had to have the volume at midrange before you installed any seperate systems, otherwise the amp would stay at the given volume once installed with a different system. This would make the volume stay low if you left it on low when you pulled it apart.

Not really sure any better way to explain it, this may not be your scenario though.

The input sensitivity of the Toyaota aux input is very low and some devices need a step up amplifier to get a decent volume level. Why don't you use the factory XM input?

The XM does not have a separate amplifier- its a base unit. Where is the factory XM input? the only thing I saw was the Aux input. Maybe just didnt look hard enough.
