Good Morning Fellow Tacoma Junkies and Addicts,

My family just purchased a new Yamaha F70 for our old Boston Whaler Classic Sport 15 this past summer, and we love it. It is smooth, powerful and quiet. Unfortunately, we have only got the chance to use our Whaler about ten times this summer. Our fixer upper house has had some issues that have had to be addressed in the past couple of months.

Does anybody know what kind of fuel economy to expect with a Yamaha F70 on a Classic 15 foot Boston Whaler? From the few tests that I have done with it, this outboard burns a little less than two gallons an hour.

Thank you in advance for any input.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

Is that at WOT?From what I heard,a Whaler is a fairly easy planing hull.So one has to find the sweet spot for best economy.Quite a few outboards give best at around 3800-4200 RPMs.And the EFI 4 strokes use very little at idle speed, whereas traditional 2 strokes are lousy.I just went from a 50 2 stroke Yamaha to a new Honda 50,and the difference is drastic.I am guessing at WOT,there may not be much difference, but that is yet to be seen.
