Ok, my 1st (Dumb) post out of 100. (Someone told me that I get only 100 stupid questions to start, then I'm allowed to get thrashed by others).

The basic running lights and safety lights/turning that are on my 96 Taco are white and some yellow.

I see photos of trucks that are completely painted black (or other solid color) and only have all white bulbs (no yellow) on the turning/safety lights.

The 2 tone colors look very nice without the ugly yellow light bulbs and lenses.

For some reason I would think this is illegal to do (like there is a color code per state or something).

Am I wrong on it being illegal? I never thought about it much because I never wanted to change them out, but now I want all 'white/clear' lights and bulbs on all exterior sides.

Agreed. I think it’s illegal here in California.

Haha! ok, after my first 100, then I'll ask the dumb questions.

It looks like I can do any color (red/amber/white) on any of the markers/turns except for the headlights from what I'm reading.

    Kentucky:

    (14) Except as provided in subsection (10) of this section, except as provided in KRS 189.950(3)(b), and except for vehicles exempted under the provisions of KRS 189.910 to 189.950, when operating on a highway or upon the right-of-way of a highway, any:
    (b) Visible rear lights on a motor vehicle shall only be white, amber, or red, unless installed as original equipment by the manufacturer.

Also an extremely good video about the same subject:
