I have the manual T case too. Did the twin sticks, but kinda wish I kept the J shift.

Getting back to sway bars, I'm actually thinking of getting the Currie anti rock rear sway bar for mine when I go back to work on the rear end.

Do you offroad and want more capability? Are you willing to sacrifice some handling for more offroad capability? If so, remove it.

    If not, don’t remove it.

I have a pre-runner, 5 speed AT, bought drivetrain out of an 09 J-VIN, FJ that had been removed with min miles to put V8, extend frame and solid axles with leafs to make a rock crawler. J-VIN 1GR-FE already installed... Tranny and t-case still in the shop... Waiting to be used :)

No need to complicate it! That’s what it came down to in my trucks.

To those that are saying “just take off the swaybar at the trailhead” I tried and I had to remove one of the cross member support beams to wiggle the swaybar out. I was hoping I could fish it through one side of the truck but it wasn’t THAT easy although it was pretty easy overall.

TC UCA, 5100 + OME885 and I noticed a MASSIVE difference in ride comfort & overall off road performance when I removed my swaybar. On road, my truck feels fine though it has most definitely more body roll through turns. I’m in DRY AZ so I don’t have the extreme incliment weather you all are speaking of, nor do I regularly take twisty highways. I absolutely love leaving it off but comments here and there always have me fearful I should put it back on for the “what if” on road high speed scenarios.

Yeah, I was never able to take mine off without removing those two braces. And if you have real steel skids, it's more of a pain in the ass. Especially since most mid skids tie into the IFS skid...

This is Tacoma World Jamie! You have to either be for something or against it! And you have to argue with people that have opposing views!

Honestly if I didn’t have a toddler son & an awesome wife I would leave mine off but I think i have decided to put mine back on. It kills me because the truck wheels like a DREAM without it.

If you guys want inspiration for sway bar removal, some good 3 wheeling footage of this trip in this photo dump thread with a bunch of other Hawaii guys.

Anyone have the stock sway bar they removed from a 2nd gen off-road model turd? I want to try the smaller bar (and also removing it).

I'm sure it gets tossed out for most but maybe someone still has one sitting around!

I only tossed them cause I moved. I was holding on to them for a long time in case someone needed one.
