A lot of guys run skinnies and seem to really like them. They look really good on Tacos, IMO.

    Looks great!

Kinda apples to oranges. Wildpeaks will be way quieter, better overall. But, the Yokos will win off-road

If you just want an MT that's ok for a daily, the Yokos are one of the better options.

But, if winter traction is a concern, avoid any MT tire.

    Damn! Those wheels are cool!

    Good looking Taco!!

I'm confused how this is apples to oranges. I was asking about a comparison of two MT tires, not the ATW3.
I currently have these, and wondering if anyone had run these and the Yok's to get a comparison of road noise and offroad performance.

Oh, sorry! I forgot they had an MT also! Whenever I hear "Wildpeaks" I think of the AT.
I've heard the Wildpeaks MT's are nice as well.

But, the Geolander seems to be considered one of the quietest MT's. I'm very happy with the level of road noise on mine. Unfortunately, I can't actually help with your question.

I've also been extremely happy with their off-road performance. Overall, I doubt I'll even consider another tire when it's time to replace them.

Edit: geez, it even said MT in your question. I should get my eyes checked. o_O

They’re a tiny bit louder than Cooper AT3 XLTs. Hardly noticeable

It's all good, I figured you'd assumed I asking about AT3W's. Thanks for your feedback!

You're saying the Yokohama's are only a tiny bit louder than the XLT's? I had a set of those a couple years ago and they were super quiet. That would be impressive if the Yok's are only slightly louder than XLT's

I guess my question is similar to the above, has anyone from a popular AT tire, K02, Wildpeaks, AT2 or AT3's, to these? I wanted to stick to an AT in C-load for comfort, and for my size these are only in E load.

    Opinions?

I was doing some online reading recently about load ratings and ride quality. I came across something interesting that said the same tire with two different load ratings inflated to the same psi would demonstrate the same ride characteristics. And that the higher load rating essentially allows the user to inflate the tire to higher pressures when they are towing or carrying a heavy load.

To me this would make sense because the additional plys in a higher rated tire are in the tread where the sidewall is typically a 2 or 3 ply depending on the specific tire.

I came from Wildpeaks in C load to these. I just bought my 2nd set if that tells you anything. The ride quality is the same or better with the Geolandar's, but the MPG took a decent hit.

Got the 285/75/16s on today on FN countersteer x wheels , so far so good.. coming from Cooper AT3 xlts prior. Coopers were better on ice of course but these Geolandars really hook up in loose snow and mud.

Looks sweet! How do these compare to the XLT's road manners and road noise? I am considering these G003's and also previously also ran XLT's on my previous Tacoma.

They definitely have a bit more noise but its not annoying, they are about 15% louder than the XLTs I am guessing. Mine are also brand new they may become louder. So far doesn’t bother me. These seem like a narrower and taller 285/75/16 than my same sized cooper xlts.. tires are all slightly different in the same size Ive come to learn.

They handled the road well , I could feel more weight in the momentum of the truck than the Coopers, not much but a little noticeable. The Geolandars dont wander much at all so far. I did maybe feel a tad more planted on the Coopers on pavement. I may go back to the Coopers but wanted to try these Yokahamas for a bit.

Really both have advantages and disadvantages, I just got the Yokos on today so its hard to totally say but I did drive 2 hours with them so far.

Awesome. Thanks for the comparison. I ran XLT's in that same size as well and really liked them. But I've been very tempted to try out these Yokohama's for a while now

No prob, yeah for me I am in a lot of mud were I live so it helped make it justifiable even though the xlts were really fine for the conditions here.

I wanted to see what a tire that aggressive would look like though so I finally pulled the trigger on the yokahamas.

They do definitely look slightly less wide than the xlts and taller (same size) , just a different look. I like em both really. Had the xlts on stock wheels .
