Going to try another discount tire when I have the time since it's free. If that doesn't work I'll try this out. Just sucks having to pay to get them rebalanced again. Don't even know how much balancing alone costs nowadays.

Who can chime in on some real world thread life on these chunks? Great looking tire, Yokohama is a solid company and the G003 is an amazing looking tire.

I think it depends on how you use your tires.
I've been running them since September 2019.. I'd like to say that about 80% of my usage has been off road here in the south west. As others have noted. . Aired down, and driving fast in rocky/gravel will produce some chunking on the sides of the lugs.
Not gonna lie mine look a little ruff. I think I've abused them pretty good. I'd wager that most others tires would look similar.
I'd like to add that these tires grip really well and dig down.
When mine are no longer usable I'll by another set.

How many miles do you have on them? I am coming from 35s cooper st maxx, with nearly 70k on.

Honestly I feel really dumb but I'm not sure. I didn't check the mileage when I put them on, It's not my daily. I need to goto discount and see what they have listed.

I checked this morning after reading your post. I have over 20K miles on mine. Mostly highway, but plenty of gravel, rock, sand and dirt. Tread measured a strong 15/32 on all 4 out of 20/32 new.

I think they'll be good for 50K at least, at which point I'll probably replace them. I'm guessing I could get even more, but I imagine performance will eventually be reduced due to tread depth.

I rotate every 5K miles. Road noise doesn't seem to have gotten any worse than new.

I can't think of any reason I wouldn't buy another set.

Here's my truck with the Yokohama Geolandar MT 255/85/16. These tires are fantastic! I can't say enough good things about them, much quieter than I anticipated. I also re-geared my truck to 4.88 a few weeks prior, and that made it possible for the 4cyl 5 speed drivetrain to turn this size tire. 6F813663-C46B-4238-8AE5-93E188A9386E.jpg 25E88199-8F95-4D92-915B-0AF79187C414.jpg C36ABC17-325D-409C-9FBA-023F2990E25D.jpg

I have put just over 10K miles on mine and am also at 14-15/32, and that is 5-tire rotation.... The DT site says my 255/85's come with 18/32.

Eleven weeks ordered to install. I got four 255/85r16 Geolandars to replace my worn out Cooper ST Maxx that were the same size. They look a little taller and narrower, but that could be from the tread height. Can't wait to get them dirty.New tires.jpg New tire.jpg

Part of my justification between these vs the ST Maxx, is they were 80% of the cost. So if I got 40k miles vs 50k I looked at them as being equal in cost.

We’ll see if 40k is realistic in about 2 years.

Stupid question i know but did anyone else have problems with the air pressure light and the tire pressure screen showing no tire pressures after installation of 255/85r16s ?
