Do these tires suck in snow?

First time pulling out of the garage with snow today. In 2WD, no grip at all. We got like an inch or two of wet snow, maybe on a touch of ice below. I was literally just driving 5mph through my neighborhood, but I was very unimpressed. Stopping was also a complete joke. Sliding 10+' at 10mph lol

Yikes. I don't own these, but I've seen people saying they were good in snow. Maybe it was icy.

Im hoping it was a combination of snow sitting on some ice. It was the first time for me, but had it been fresh snowfall on an actual 35mph+ road, I think it would have been quite a bit sketchy.

I dont expect them to be great, but it was a little disheartening lol

In contrast we have a AWD Mini on snow tires and it'll take off and stop as if its dry pavement. I guess it comes down to "picking the right tool for the job"

In icy conditions, no regular non-studded tire is going to work well.

Yeah. That's why I said maybe it was icy.
Some people have said these tires were good in snow, but that wasn't his experience. So maybe it was icy.

    I was agreeing. :)

I've ran a few different tires known to do well in snow and sometimes they do and sometimes they don't snow is a tricky medium and constantly changing.

If we have a next time this season, I will be sure to exit the truck and shuffle around to verify the condition of the road. Without having done so today I will defer to it being icy. My driveway did seem to have a slight sub-layer on it as I shoveled earlier in the morning....but I was also wearing boat shoes lol....

Last big snow storm. Snowing like crazy again today. As long as you are aware that you are in mud tires that don’t stop great on ice they’re fine. I’ve actually been impressed with them on snow packed roads.

Nice. Can you compare them to any other specific MT tire you've ran?

Super swampers. Super swampers try to kill you at every chance you get. Compared to other tires I frequently ran (ko2s and duratracs) I think they’re just as good as the ko2s were l, if not better on the acceleration side of things. Probably a bit worse braking than ko2s. Handling would be even. Duratracs however definitely out perform them in road snow traction in every aspect. However the only thing these things really lack in over any other all terrain is stopping. My buddy runs toyo M/Ts and say his are pretty bad on snow pack. These tires out perform any other tire from the snow wheeling I’ve done. I think part of the better traction I may have with them that others don’t may come from them being narrow. Maybe I’ll just get them in 35s now so we can know! For science.

Ok, I got to drive home in another fresh inch of snow or so.... Certainly better than before, but VERY easy to kick the back out in 2WD. Stopping was much better, and overall probably the same as the General ATs I took off. Probably par for the course with a MT.

I have similar issues with Wildpeak AT3Ws, Duratracs and Patagonias. 2wd traction in snow is a joke for my truck. In 4wd magic happens.

How true to advertised size do these tend to be? Looking at going 315/75/16 and trying to decide between -19 and -25 offset on a 16x8 wheel. I'm running the JBA uca and its a 2015.

I'd think slightly smaller. My 285's are slightly under 33". I'm on a wide rim though so I dont know if it makes a difference.

I run them on mine, new they’re actually 34.8” which is .2” over what the size should be. I actually run jbas as well. With 0 offset wheels and 1.25” spidertrax they don’t hit, I’m pretty sure I could run without spacers if i did more fitment work.

    Also, they’re damn meaty.
