I took the upper intake back off & tore the wiring harness all apart to check the factory injector wire splices & they where all fine? I put some solider & shrink wrap on them anyways. I rented a set of noid lights from O'reily's for $16 to test the wiring & that is when I found the real problem. The metal terminals inside of the plastic connector for cylinder # 3 where so loose that when I was plugging them together that instead of them locking in it was just pushing the wire out the back of the connector . Either way it was an easy fix & once I got it all back together it ran MUCH better. I just wish I could have figured that out without taking so much back apart. I still have a few small problems.....There is a pin hole in the radiator, I am going to put some crap (bars leak) in it tonight & hopfully that should stop it long enough for me to get through Shilo-Ridge at least. The Alternator in not charging for some reason, I'm going to go back over the wiring & be sure everything is tight, if not I might just bring my battery charger to the meet & keep it on charge when its not on the trail. Keith be sure to have your boost pack charged up for me, I might need it. I'm not going to buy a new alternator, mine is easy & cheap enough ($5) to fix with just new brushes, but they will have to be ordered. Tonight I am going to work on the proportioning valve & brake lines, recheck the valves & take it for a test drive. Lots of little odds & ends left to tie up, I need to put the fuel tank skid back on, the front skid, front drive shaft ect.

The test run will be as soon as I get the brakes done, not sure what time it will be, but def. going down tonight even if I have to stay up untill 2 am....it's going down. :) The earlier you can show up the better, I can put your ass to work for sure! I can call you when I finish everything else & it is time for the test run if you like.

I picked up everything I need to install the new proportioning valve today on my lunch break. Got the double flare tool & some brake fluid. I already had a few of the fittings I picked up last week. Also bought a mini tubing cutter & some much needed wiper blades.

Here are a few link for eliminating the load sensing proportioning valve on the 4runner. Just posting them so that I can find the easily later tonight when I am actually doing this mod, and incase anyone is interested in seeing what the hell I'm talking about. I have read that alot of people do this even if there brakes are working fine as an upgrade.

    http://www.yotatech.com/f77/corax-s-88-4runner-144572/

For the second link see post #18. Looks like I am going to have some fun with this mod.

Of course things did not go as planned last night :(. I got the old load sensing proportioning valve removed & ran all of the neccesary brake lines. The double flaring tool that I rented was a piece of crap, but I am pretty happy with how it all came out. Like most of the other who have done this I decided to put my new adjustable proportioning vavle in the engine compartment by the master cylinder instead of the rear frame rail for easier adjustment. Besides fighting the flare tool, everything went pretty smooth & came out nice untill I went to remove the bypassed brake & didn't have the correct plug. I guess my plan is to take one of the old brake line fittings & fill the trough hole with weld to plug it off. At any rate I should be able to take care of that issue in a matter of 5 minutes, then the brakes will just need to be bleed. Here are a couple of the pics.

I decided not to mount the new proportioning valve because it would have been a pain in the neck to run the new brake lines, but they are so rigid & the proportioning valve is so light that it doesn't move at all.

This is how I did the rear line, 1 line was eliminated & this one was redirected from the old proportioning valve directlly to the rear brakes. I would like for this line to be a little higher & tighter but it was a pain to bend without kinking.

Finally this is where the other end of the eliminate brake line tied into the equasion in the passenger side wheel well. You can see where I need to put the plug.

All in all it doesn't look like much but took me a couple of hours to do. I think this is going to be a good fix for my brake problem & a nice upgrade aswell.

Just finished this bad boy, It is the plug for the brake line "T" on the passenger side wheel well. I took the original Flare fitting & welded a 3/16" steel rod inside of it & machined it to a 45 deg. point. Should work perfectlly. I love working at a machine shop [IMG]

Glad to hear that you like my proportioning valve set -up!

I know, as soon as we get back from Alto I will finish your bracket, still running balls to the wall on the 4runner to get it ready!
