Link wont work for me this morning. If that is the link to the crossmember that is like a yoke ring and bolts to the back of the t-case you will have no problems with the aluminum case. I have seen on two accounts where the crossmember ring itself cracks right near where the frame brace connects to it.

 

Yes, thanks, it is the one that bolts to the back of the t-case. They have it on sale this month with the t-case skid plate for $300. I think it would be a real ground clerance saver because of how low the factory crossmember hangs.

Unfortunately, no building is going on. I honestly haven't touched the 4runner in a couple weeks. No time, no energy, no $. Been busy with other things lately, hopefully after Long Ranch (not bringing the creampuff), I will get back after it.

Well I have been saved for 2-3 weeks & almost pulled the trigger, but last week I ran in to a budgeting set back & basically I have no locker, or extra cash, back to starting from scratch. Sucks but such is life. That is why this thread is stagnate.....no money to play.

 

Sean, did you get your crossmember yet? I've been thinking about buying it instead & working on my drivetrain lift.

I liked that cross member because of the extra high clearance, didn't really even consider the skid plate bolted to the transfer case. It is what 4crawler used to do there drive train lift write up. Bud actually makes a bolt on cross member / skid plate for the drive train lift, but IIRC it is a little more $.

I have finally, after a couple months of letting it sit, found the motivation to get back to work on the creampuff. Put the battery on charge last night & plan on pulling it into the garage this evening. Probablly start by finishing up half done projects like my CB & gauges. Then get started on making the BJ spacers & diff drop. Also probablly going to make some longer shackles for the rear springs untill I can get something better.

 

I'm sure getting that locker is a good reason for the new found motivation!

You gonna overfill the tranny, or was the problem something else?
