I believe the tranny problems to be a combination of several things. The shifter & linkage is as sloppy as a seasoned hooker, a few new bushings should help alot & the rubber in the crossmember mount is completly fawked, so I am going to start by fixing these problems & see what happens. I can't seem to find a new mount though, there are several places that sell them for the manual trans & gear driven T-case but none for the auto trans chain driven case. I think there is just too much slop allowing it to fall out of gear when climbing anything steep.

A few pics just to prove that work is actually taking place, even though at this point I have done more damage than good. The upper ball joint is giving me hell, I beat on that son of a biatch for an hour & a half last night & can't get the tapper to let go of the knuckle. I enlisted the help of a ball joint seperator & ended up destroying the rubber boot. Napa has some in stock for cheap enough.

I took some measurements to see how much the ride hiegth will change with the BJ spacers. Sits pretty damn level right now....35-1/4" on all 4 corners.

Notice the upper ball joint is still attached to the knuckle. Even though I am no longer going to use it, I gotta find a way to get it out of there.

Wonder where all of that red mud came from

I picked up a complete set of seats out of a 91 4runner last night. They are tan & the drivers seat is pretty bad off cosmetically, but the cushioning is in tackt so it's nothing some cheap covers can't fix. They all need to be cleaned up & I have to do some mounting bracket moddifications but the price was definatlly right. I was also able to pick up a new shifter assembly for $20, there are only a few minor differences but I think I can make it work. Will get some pics up sooner or later.

I'll check the Smittybuilt ones out, haven't seen them. I was thinking about these from Cabelas. They are not too bad.

Well the spring shackles are done. I got started working on the seats but it was just too damn hot! I don't know if you guys can tell by the pics, but these bad boys are hell for stout. Thanks Todd for the beautiful welds.

Todd is the best welder I have ever seen, you should see what he can do with exotic materials...titanium & such. I'm very happy with how they came out, they make my stock shackles look fit for a clown car.

Yeah.. Seems like that conflicts with another meet scheduled. I am all in for Hidden Falls now, will have the sliders next week but I wanna BVORR with the new runner as a test.

thanks, I can't wait to put them on, but I am afraid I will have to wait until Monday because I can't reuse my bolts & none of the hardware stores have a 14mm bolt that is 100mm (4") long. 1 cool thing thought is that they are stainless so I am not even going to paint them.

Man I wish I could go but I am already committed to BVORR. :( I am definitely looking for the next meet to be @ Hidden Falls. Maybe once it cools off a bit.

I though about going with 9/16" it's about .01" smaller. Do you think it will matter much? I have Lowe's & Home Depot within 3 miles from home, neither have much metric stuff. I am hoping that when Keith comes over tomorrow morning he will have something metric at his shop & if not I guess I could hit up Lowe's.

I guess I should have said that I already have the correct 14mm fine thread bolts & nylon inserted lock nuts on order from McMaster Karr, expecting them to show up on Monday. I love McMaster Karr! I love that we have an account with them at work :)

Yes sir, Next week is going to be a big week for the 4runner. I am waiting on the manager of the CNC mill department to finish my BJ spacers, I can install the shackles, Should have the seats done by then, & will put the locker in next weekend with Sam & Todd. Lifted & Locked in the same week, should be fun & I am pumped about it! :D Coolest thing is that the lift won't cost me a single dime!!
