i have been on yotatech.com and pirate4x4, if someone is with me ill be fearless. thing is i got a shop in shreveport that wants to rebuild the engine. i sent them a email before i left and they jsut got back to me yesterday...
anyway I had said i was in the military...(sob story here)...and asked for a good deal on a top half rebuild and a milling of the head and deck... he said 900 but it was not set in stone. 900 for a rebuild is a f-ing steal. but ill talk to him more when i return.

when do i get my BJ spacer lift? Dec.9th is my 23 B-day...(hint hint) haha
show a pic when you get the shackle and BJ lift on. Toytec is 200 for the lift. what was your cost?

$900 is a steal . I'm not sure we could do it for that much. I would say to let them do it, you are going to have to pay for machine work either way.

I actually made one extra set of BJ spacers, so consider them yours. I'll have to go back & make another set of shackles for you. The Toyotec BJ spacer lift for $200 comes with an AAL for the rear instead of shackles but I already have an AAL. Grand total my cost on the lift is $0. Even the hardware has been free to this point. However once I get it all installed I think my shocks are going to be the limiting factor in wheel travel. I am considering going with the no name extended travel shocks on Toyotec's website they are just about right for my tight budget.

OK thanks, yeah I was wondering who made them. I will see about cycling the suspension & try to find a way to measure the travel.

thanks i need a AAL so ill get it and you get yourself 50 plus a case or two of whatever you want man. thanks.

i do hope that guy goes with that price or even as much as 1100, a rebuilt long block is 1500-2000 depending on who you go through... so im stoked but we will see.

I'm not going to let you pay me for the spacers dude, consider them a gift! If you want to buy me a beer then thats fine but we can argue about it later. Do you want / need the shackles also, or just the AAL?

I guess the price could vary depending on what the machinist finds wrong with the heads & what not. Either way I still think that is a good price & hope it works out for you.

"3.0V6. 4.88 yukon gears in front (ifs). Detroit locker in rear." (quote from the listing)

I would assume that he has 4.88 in the rear also. Wonder what he wants for the 2 3rd members. I don't have any money but I'll send him an e-mail anyways.

Sure would put a big grin on my face to stumble onto a sweet deal for some 4.88 3rds! Thanks for the link!

    got a quick question.

first off that 4runner might be a good truck to get the gears from and also i was thinking of trying for the motor and tranny if auto... rob can you see what he wants for the engine and tranny?

my question is being around all the hummers and humvees here in the desert. i went over to transportation and asked to take a look at one being serivced. how hard would it be to put independant rear suspension in the yota? cost? they say they are much easier to work on then the straight rear axles. can you lock them? is it worth it?

    "worth it"= performance gains+money invested=<value of vehicle(3000)

I would Murphy but at this point he hasn't responded to either of the e-mails I've sent him. I am yet to understand why anyone would post a for sale ad & not respond to inquiries.

Last night Todd & I installed the spartan lunch box locker! I took a crap load of pics during the process....enjoy :)

First I removed the axles & got the 3rd member out.

After a good cleaning, I used a paint marker to mark orientaion of everything to be sure that the 3rd member goes back exactlly how is come apart. Marked one side with A's & the other with B's.

    Mark & remover ring gear.

    Spider gears are out.

    Locker installed in carrier
    [IMG]

    All back together
    [IMG]

I got the third member back in the truck, still need to bleed the brakes but I have front brake work to do also so I am going to wait. Thanks to Todd for all of the help & Sean for hooking me up with the locker in the first place. I can't wait to try it out! :D

Anybody remember my busted idler arm.

I scored a used one on the cheap
    [IMG]

Cleaned it up & a quick coat of paint later, it's good as new. It's in my pile of parts that are ready to be installed.

No problem dude, It was a shitty drive there, I got stuck behind a tractor with a way over sized load that was running 25 mph the whole way down highway 79. Fucker was blocking both damn lanes.

It was alright, would have been better if the bartender would have been a little better looking.
