Yotarobs 4runner build

I just placed my order with LC Engineering. I got a timing chain set, valve cover gasket set, Exhaust manifold gasket set & an LC pro distributor cap & rotor. I went with the Plastic chain guides. The originals are good for at least 100k miles & LCE's are supposed to be made of better material, so I think they will be fine. I went with ground shipping so no telling how long it will be before it arrives, they are in Arizona so it couldn't take but a couple days to send a small box that far. All total, $176 plus shipping & handling that will be billed seperately.

Tell me about it. I think that a crack habit might be a little cheaper though.

I really don't mind spending this money though, It's not like I have spent alot. IMO it is more important to have my trail rig be reliable than anything. If I can't make it up a hill or over an obstical at first it is still better than having to fight my rig all day to stay running & worrying about it not making it back to camp.

Yeah, he has come a long way with his build, the truck was pretty rough at first but looking good now.

 

I hate waiting for parts! Just checked my tracking number & it looks like I will get my stuff on Monday. I guess it isn't all bad. I have plenty of prep work to do this weekend. I bought a few cans of engine degreaser to try & get all the junk off of it to make the job a little cleaner. I can also start pulling stuff apart & see if the guides are broken or not. If they are broken & the oil pan has to be removed to clean up the debris then I am wondering if it would be easier to just pull the engine completelly out & do all of the work on an engine stand instead of dropping the front diff out of the way & working under the truck. I also suspect that there may be a leak on the rear seal, so that would be a good time to fix that aswell.

I slipped under the truck for a minute last night & noticed that the studs on the bottom of the exhaust manifold are all jacked up. I bought upper gaskets for it also so I guess I will just pull the whole thing off & then try to replace all of the studs so I can for sure get that leak sealed up good. It will also make it easier to chase the threads with a tap. We will have to see how much I can get done this weekend, I have a few other things I need to do other than working on the cream puff.

 

Not bad Sean, I like it. Way cheaper than an IFS eliminator kit & an axle. I know that the SAS is the first choice of most off-roaders. But I would just LOVE to be the guy that goes against the grain & builds a bad ass IFS front end. I just like being different.

 

Wonder if I need longer shafts for it? I didn't read read far enough.
