Can't post without saying hello first....so....Hello!
I've needed to move on from my '98 Ranger and have been lurking for awhile trying to learn.
After some good research here, I just scooped up a new 2015 access cab.
As others have noted, the stock stereo is somewhat lacking and I'm looking to upgrade.
I'm thinking of keeping the stock Entune Plus head unit, and was hoping that my picks for new equipment seem reasonable and workable, so I humbly submit them for your review.
I'm going to focus on the fronts only, and am not yet looking at a sub.

I'm thinking that I can take the speaker wires and run them into a JL Audio CL441 DSP Clean Sweep to improve to signal and get a pre-out to send to an amp.

Next up, an amp. The speakers are 80 watts rms, and this is rated at 85 watts. Alpine PDR-F50.

    http://www.amazon.com/Alpine-PDR-F5...29405197&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=alpine+pdr+450

And finally, the speaker set. Focal 165V2.

I've never really done any car audio upgrades, so I'm out of my comfort zone on this, but my selections *seem* to be alright, for the budget I'm working with.

If anyone has anything to add...that'd be great, whether it's to say they won't work, will work fine, the picks suck, it'd be a good sounding system....whatever.
I'm just looking to not be making a mistake by ordering these things.

Thanks ahead of time to any and all that reply,

    Don.

Well, I thought about things a bit and went in a different direction.
    I went all Alpine.
I stepped up to a head unit with Navigation, the Alpine ine-w940

I scooped up an amp, an Alpine PDR-F50. 85 watts/channel to each of the door speakers, two channels bridged to a sub.

For the door speakers, I got SPR-60C's
    http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/spr-60c/

And I got a small 8" sub that just fills the space between the rear seat backs
    http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/sbr-s8-4/.

I never had a remote start before, so I had one thrown in since it was at the shop having all this other stuff put in.
Everything was changed out about 450 miles and a week on a new 2015....the sound is very satisfying, I'm glad to have gotten it.

There was a connectivity issue using the factory antenna for satalite radio, a change over with the antenna and it's now pretty much instantaneous. The only issue is that yesterday I went to play a cd that I burned, that had been played about 3 times with success, now reads the number of songs but only gives me a faint hum....no music, the other cd I recorded plays fine. I haven't had time to check into that little issue yet.
