I'm looking into getting a tacoma 4x4 and I was curious about everyones opinions on regular cabs. Obviously the amount of space isn't incredible behind the seat, but just what kind of room is there? I'm a big hunter and fisher. Is there room for a gun case or gun rack? If anybody has any input feel free to yell. Whats some things yall are able to haul behind the seat?

I have a 07 access cab prerunner and the extra space is nice but if i had it do over again i might have gone with a single cab 4x4.

well, i have a reg cab, and i think it's great.
better than having a ton of space and not making use of it.
the space behind the seat depends of course on your seat position.

i just installed a gun rack last week. fits great. the hooks are behind the headrests and don't touch- and they are BIG hooks.
something like this, but the hooks are different.

behind the seat i have a tacklebox of emergency equipment, a one gallon gas can (empty) and some other odds and ends.
if i go shopping i can easily put two or three bags back there.
there is room to install a net to keep loose stuff in place, which i have.
i've also seen these plastic organizers, but don't think i need them. the locking one is good for a small gun though.

you can find them here, as well as other places.

even down to $16 options like this.

i love making the most of my reg cab. i literally only bought a bed box for tarps, bed blanket, and a place to put small luggage when there are two of us in the cab.

Thanks for the help so far... To give you an idea of my size im about 5'9 or so...maybe 5'8....weighin about 150ish. I also don't sit like a gangster lol... so I doubt I'd slide the seat back all the way....

i just went and snapped these.
the pics don't do it justice, there is a nice wedge of available space in the lower portion.

if i wanted to drill into the rear wall, i'm sure i could mount a shotgun or rifle perfectly in that middle space.
i think if you cut out and removed the center 'child' seat belt you could lay one of those organizers back there.

i'd say the amount of space up top is from the driver's seatbelt on the wall, and back....and then gets progressively wider toward the bottom.

i'm 6 ft, 200 pounds, and my seat is slid back enough to drop a a small storage crate in thatnotch in the bench seat by the cupholder console. (when you see a bench seat, you'll know what i'm talkin' about.) it could go about 6 inches forward, and about 4 inches inches back with my size.

sorry, i was updating while you were posting- no, i could slide it back about 3 or 4 more inches.

and pretty much the carpet you see on the floor, plus some, is capable of storage with the seat upright.

I like the look of regular cab trucks. Reminds me of old school trucks. You can definitely fit a gun rack on the back window with easy access to them. I went with the access cab so I could easily throw my gear in the back seat quickly to keep it dry and dust free. Not really much room for people to sit back there for very long but it's big enough for the dog and other crap you have.
