Looks pretty cool, you out it together and I like the styling a little more than the alu-cab

I emailed them to see if they sell to the US, not going to hold my breath but it's worth a shot

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I would think with some added structural adhesive on the overlapping joints before bolting it together and it should be quite strong. I like the corner attachments, should be better than bed rail clamps. And given that it’s knocked down, shipping cost could be reasonable. I wonder if the company has a good reputation Down Under? Edit, looks like it’s from South Africa like the AluCab, not Australia. Edit #2, the price in South Africa is just over $2000 US ... pretty good!

    Very cool.
I think with all of the places you bolt it together, adding home-made things to customize it would be fairly easy. No need to drill new holes into the sides or ceiling. Just fabricate brackets. I do like the way it's mounted to the bed.

That it really sweet. I was surprised they didn't have a gasket of some sort between the roof and side panels though.

I've been emailing them and right now they obviously don't make anything for the Tacoma but they sent me a PDF sheet to provide them with the measurements of our bed so they can compare it to the Hilux I presume .They do have a plan to start selling in the US maybe with more interest might speed this along .

And with them shipping it flat the freight cost would be a lot lower

Can I enlist some help with the dimensions of the bed? I did mine but want a sanity check since I don't have a damn measuring tape that's in mm

It looks like Frontrunner in South Africa sell the RSI canopies, but not Frontrunner USA. That might be a path. After the OP’s post I started looking at other South African canopies ... there’s some nice stuff! But the RSI looks better than most and seems to have good reviews. There’s a new 2016+ Hilux Revo which calls for a different canopy than pre-2016 Hiluxes, similar to our 3rd gen but possibly different dimensions. I know that AluCab made some mods for the Taco vs the original Hilux version, for better fit.

Multiply inches by 25.4 to get mm.

As much as I like the you build yourself idea, I cannot see this maintaining water/dustproof. All the r style campers tht are built similar to this all have leakage issues over th duration, throw in off-roading and bumpy roads.

Ideal is unibody constuction, or have the panels welded together.

I can’t speak for how well it works, but their literature plus some of the other South African canopy manufacturers emphasize dust sealing. ARB sells fiberglass canopies in Australia that are vented for positive pressure for this purpose. I imagine Aussies and South Africans know dust.

They have a vent option as well that does the same thing

I agree it looks pretty darn slick. Still a bit hesitant on the you assemble part, as I see their being a big potential for a lot of leaks.

A positive air system would be idea for the canopies, actually kind of shocked we do not do that here in North America. Lots of the roads I go on in the summer time are just as bad as the Aussie/South Africa roads. Well not as bad, but you gear gets coated in everything.

Update: .I sent over the bed measurements to them and he passed it over to the design group to take a look at how it compares to what they have there. Also took some pictures of the nee for their reference . We shall see
