Update: it turns out that the hilux'' cargo box is narrower than its US brethren . They asked if there was anyway to get a hold of CAD files of the rear cargo box?

Posts #29 and 31 in this thread have sketchup files of long and short bed. Not sure if that'll be what they need. But it's a place to start:

@fredgoodsell thank you, I actually had that post saved too and never caught that . Much appreciated. Hopefully this will help get them moving along, more options the better right?

A little update: they're having difficulties getting a proper scan of the bed. They're still trying to get a decent scans if anyone reading this has accessibility to a scanner that would be super helpful IGES, and STEP would be more suitable.

My friend's 3D scanner was too small for the task so it kept messing up .

Interesting for sure. This is exactly the type of shell I’ve been looking for. Hate expensive fiberglass that doesn’t last. Emailed them as well and am waiting for an update.

Double cab, short bed - looking to mount a RTT. Weight specs are damn good too 770 static, 330 dynamic.

Here is the hand raiser website for US sales. http://rsismartcap.com

Following this one hoping something comes together for our Tacomas (Gen 2 here).

Just 'cause everyone likes pictures, here are a few shots of RSI canopies from a trip to South Aftrica in June 2015. These aren't the same flat-pack version were talking about here, but they do show some of what the company does.

First post (Signed up because of this thread lol) I've been looking for this cap now for a couple months for my 2019 O/R Short Bed. After talking with them they start shipping on the 28th of February. https://theyotagarage.com/products/rsi-smarcap-evo-leisure-truck-cap

Pricey, but the modular design is awesome and its' very appealing that it can be removed fairly easily unlike the heavy leer's.

Whoa... on their social media they quoted $3600-$3800. I think I saw it digging around their IG account.

I am shopping for a truck cap for my 2019 TRD OR and I did some comparison of some of the more popular options in the market. I received an email confirmation from Dan Beaulaurier who is the VP of RSI NA that the Tacoma version will be available around the end of June. Here is the comparison I came up with during my research

    upload_2020-2-2_17-37-16.jpg
As you can see the Aluminum and Fiberglass caps come no where close to the steels caps in terms of load rating. Snugtop and ARE don't even have a dynamic load rating even though their dealers try to pass their static load rating as dynamic load rating. When I called Snugtop they were adamant to the point of rudely shutting down any further questions towards their dynamic load rating (even with their "Sportsman" package).

Alu-Cab have very little information on their website, me and the dealer reached out to them several times but still didn't get a dynamic load rating from them. The RLD Design dynamic load rating is advertised on their website and the owner said that they tested with 1500lbs static and the thing didn't even creak so they concluded their test. RSI seems to be the only one that guarantees a separate static and dynamic load rating on their website.

There is only one small problem with all these caps (except Snugtop & ARE) that has me sitting on the fence. It might sound silly but I'd hate to have to turn a key to open the rear door and then get the tailgate down. I installed the pop and lock on my tailgate and absolutely love how you can lock and unlock it with the key fob. Snugtop and ARE have the same system available as an option on their caps. The others not so much.

Other than that it doesn't make much sense in buying a fiberglass cap any longer now that the steel options are here to stay.

Would be worth looking at the RLD - all TIG welded and pre-assembled for the same price.
