And yes, I did do a search and found tons on info... But, not what I was looking for.

    QUESTIONS.............

I want to Plasti Dip my chrome emblems . But want to know if others leave them on the truck and do them or remove first.

If you remove them, what do you use to re-attach them? Double sided tape?

    Thanks!!!!

That's basically exactly what I did for the emblems, rear bumper and wheels. The grill I took off to Plasti Dip

I just tried it today, and it turned out like shit. Not sure where I went wrong.
Cleaned area well and sprayed even coats. When pulling tape off, and the excess it would pull small parts off the letters.
Also, looks like the adhesive they used to put the emblems and the plasti dip bonded and made balls of goo. Not pleased at the outcome.

Maybe I didn't let the coats set long enough between each other.

I have done mine a while back and they are still looking as good as when I did them.

I cleaned the area as best as I can with paper towels, Q-tips and 409. After I shit them with a few coats I took it off making sure to peel and pull away from the emblems. If there isn't a gap (that's where the plasti dip separates) try lightly scoring just the plasti dip with an exacto knife. Also clean to nosles on the cans before every coat.
I painted a few cars and am used to the prep work...
    My 2 cents

    Some stuff...
Try applying with several very light coats, I found that worked best for me (the hard way of course:frusty:).

I let mine sit about 15 minutes between coats (I think I did 6). Immediatley after the last coat, I pulled the tape along with excess dip. After about 15 minutes, I got the dip out from in between letters.

    I hadn't considered using that method. :D
To aim, did you look between your legs, use a mirror, or have a helper? :p
    Gloves and full face respirator?

They really only guarantee that the coating won't come off if you use their primer, which I had to order. See their web page. Might be worth listening to them...

I did mine and while it turned out fine, plastidip doesn't hold up well... just going through a car wash doesn't hurt them but because it's tacky it collects dust and crap so they never really look clean, drives me batty...

I'll be pulling the emblems and painting them and clearing them rather than using plastidip...

BUT if you still want to dip, I waited exactly 10 minutes between coats, did 5 thick coats, waited 20 minutes, then I used a toothpick to sort of score around the letters, that helped a lot and the chunks just came up without lifting up the plastidip on the emblem.

I suspect I could have waited a little bit less and it'd have been easier to pull off the non letter spray.

I did mine on the truck.
    Wipe down with prepsol
    mask
    did 3-4 light coats
waited about 10 minutes for it to set up a little and then pulled the tape, and scored with a toothpick and picked out the rest with the toothpick.

there is a window of time to do that; otherwise it's still too wet, or, too set up and it can peel off the badge. I did one or two over getting the timing right.
the good news is, it's cheap and easy to do over.

Thanks for everyone for the help, comments and video!

JDawg... Do you spread you shit in light layers? Do you clean your sprayer after each coating? Upside down?

    You really made my day!!!!!

Has anyone tried doing their headlights with this stuff? I've seen the "painted" headlights, but wondering if this wouldn't work as a "not so permanent" solution??

Sorry, perhaps my wording was a little misleading. I've seen people shade/darken/paint/decal the top most portion of their headlight lenses... It looks slick, next time I see a pic on here I'll show you what I mean. Kinda like an upper eye lid on the headlight.
