    Sure, I haven't gone wheeling with anyone locally since I got the truck. It's supposed to be a fun trail thats not difficult and has some good photo opps. It's off of Hwy 38 on the South Side of the winter resorts up in Big Bear. I just hope I have my truck back together before sunday morning. Installing my winch and winch mount Saturday.

    Been reading the manual there's some kinda SWR meter built into this thing? So I don't need one separate ? Or do I use this to fine tune it or something?
    Also,
    Im measuring 1.75 ohms resistance from the hood mount to the negative post on my battery... Is this too much? I sanded all the paint off of the thing... Really not sure what else to do aside from runnin a separate grounding cable? Nobody can seem to tell me if this 1.75 ohms is too much or not. I mean this resistance completely aside from the standing wave ratio.

    Sorry to throw so much at ya this is my first cb use

    Alright lesson of the day:
    Form over function.

    I mounted this damn CB back in its box and off it goes back to the sender...
    It just won't fit.
    Lesson learned.

    Well here's to another 4 weeks with a dummy cb antenna on the hood........,

    If I were you I would get the Cobra 75wxst. I think Amazon.com has it for under a hundred bucks.

    Leave the cb on the hood i think it looks way better than mounting on the bumper or in the bed. Mounting it on the hood is way more out of the way too! Just get this, I have this on my truck with a hinge mount and it works beautifully. Just replace the antenna connection with this on your mount, and fold it into the gap between the hood and the wipers when not in use or going through tight spaces or car washes.

    Only problem is you make the rx directional. Best option is to mount on the roof to make the rx 360 degrees.

    Fair enough, I just like that it folds, I guess you could use the folding mount on your roof rack still and fold it down for stealth.

    I think what I will do is put the spring mount on cause its just a bit too stiff to survive an inevitable stupid move like forgetting it in a car wash or something and its really not hard to take on & off when I need to.
    I do love the hood mount- it's not in the way of anything at all & clears the windshield when it's up.
