has anyone installed additional d ring tie downs? Are there any do and don'ts I should know about before I start drilling holes in my bed? I am looking at putting them in the front of the bed.

    Thanks

I put these on my truck to help tie down my dirt bikes. I hate dealing with D hooks in the bed.

I added a second set of OEM D rings. They come with instructions that are very easy to follow. I picked them up on Amazon.com

At first I tried moutning them in the outer drain holes on the bottom of the bed. This was a big no-go. There is stuff under the bed that gets in the way.

I then installed them on the sides where the instructions said to put them, and with someone to hold the backing plate/nut the install took all of 10 minutes.

I mounted extra D-rings in my box, the ones I used when strapping this box in are mounted on the wheel wells (upper right in the shitty tapatalk pic upload). The truck landed on its roof twice when I rolled and the load stayed secure, I examined the D-rings back at the tow yard and they looked used but the truck box never cracked or showed any obvious damage.

I think there's a couple places that sell those. Can't think of the names right now.

I bought some OEM Toyota ones with the intent to install them on the front bed bolts. I decided that I didn't want them there because they would scratch the sheets of hardwood and furniture that gets carried sometimes. I ended up just putting them on the sides as instructed and they work perfect. Plenty strong with the backing plate that comes with them.

I liked these best because they stainless steel and powder coated. They come complete with nice aluminum tee nuts.

3" Revtek spacer kit in front w/ aal and 1" block in rear. No TSB aal installed yet. Spider Trax spacers.
There is a full write up on here from a few that have purchased the factory D-rings from toyota and used the factory bed bolts in the front of the bed, and this seems to be a great location and obviously very solid.

Ditto on both accounts. These are one of those little details that should have come on the truck

I did them in all the bed bolts, so adding 4. No drilling just reused the factory bolts.
