What is the "The two bucket method?" I'd like to keep my new Tacoma swirl/scratch free also.

I prefer the plasti-dipped chrome badge look over removing the badges on my MGM as shown in my sig pic. One $7 can of black plasti-dip does wonders to the look.

I also recommend the BHLM which looks awesome on the MGM and costs less than $10.

I've got the same truck, and also told the dealer not to wash it. I put hood struts on, so I don't have to mess with that stupid rod. I did get the Weathertech's and OEM bed mat. I went with the console vault to keep stuff safe. I made a rod from some square metal stock and painted it back to block the opening of the sliding rear window. I will also put a BMW hose clamp on the passenger side tailgate hinge to slow down a potential thief. I don't care if my truck looks "sick" so I'll pass on all that other stuff.

Another thing to consider is a bed mat if you don't have one already. It'll keep shtuff from sliding all around the bed when you use it. No need for an expensive oem Toyota one. There's a place I got mine from that was a fraction of the cost. I have to remember where and I'll edit this post later. I want to say Auto Anything. Allow me to get some coffee to get my mind going.

    *edit* Here you go.

I'd search the p/n for the best deal.

One bucket of water and one bucket of soapy water. Use the soapy water to wash (obviously) and rinse the sponge/brush/whatever in the bucket of just water to avoid getting your soapy bucket dirty and therefore washing your truck with dirty water. At least that's what I've always done.

The first three mods I did on my Taco were relatively inexpensive and unobtrusive. I spent about 5$ (USD) on a pipe clamp for the tailgate lock. Spent another ~20$ (USD) on materials for the rear differential breather relocation mod as I have a 4WD model and could potentially take my truck through some deeper water. Finally, I cant remember exactly what I spent on a Fumoto Quik-valve for my oil pan & oil catch can. I want to say it was about 20$ each. Each of these three mods took me no longer than 20 minutes each to install.

Other people have mentioned Plasti-derp, which is a nice simple mod and relatively cheap to do. It creates a unique look and is easy to undo if you don't like it. Users on here have mentioned debadging which is also easy with some fishing line and some light heat with googone. Bottom line is to do what you want to do to your truck to personalize it to your liking. Starting simple is a good way to get into the DIY mentality of truck mods which you will continue to enjoy for all the years you own your Taco. Good luck buddy.
