Thank but that thread didn't answer one question in regards to any speaker depth or speaker sizes. And ********* sucks some serious azz. Used them in my last double cab and every adapter needed to get modified. Junk

If planning on running a sub box, don't put anything in the rear doors. And leave the factory ones unconnected.

Check this thread out that I made for my sub box if you would like.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/329721-single-10-sub-box-build.html

Matching the sub with the speakers that I have (Incl. the rears) is a great combination for every day listening. It can also be cranked with no worries if you want to use the stereo outside (camping etc.).

Also check out my pictures on my 4ch amp and speakers. I have an older 4ch Alpine amp mounted behind my single fold down seat. As for the speakers I have all Alpine Type S. I went with 6.5 inch coaxial in the rear and 6.5 inch component speakers in the front (i.e. separate tweeter). I used the 6.5 inch taco tunes mounts (some sort of custom mount is required since the mounts that come with the speakers probably wont fit). You may need an extra mount for the tweeter, although the alpine speakers had an adapter to mount directly into the door panel via a clamp mechanism. The taco tunes mounts worked perfectly with my speakers with no modifications (I have a 2011 Double Cab TRD).

I am not sure how the depth vary between the speakers you are looking at (seems to be the Type R version) and the Type S that I used, but I can confirm the 6.5" diameter will fit with no issues (provided you use a mount). I recall when installing mine, there was plenty of room depth wise.

The only issue I had with taco tunes was their shipping and initial service (took 3+ months). The problem was due to some confusion on the fees I should have paid being from Canada. I guess their online system didn't automatically prompt me to pay an additional fee to import to Canada, and no one on their end figured it out untill I pestered them with emails. I was told they were going to revise their online checkout to include this fee to avoid stalling future Canadian customers.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck.

I also just posted a few more pics of the boxes that show my specs of my alpine head unit and speakers if your interested in comparing that to what ever you get.
