I would like to get a lift to match the baja or pro. I don't go cheap on parts but no need to go crazy. I want the lift fairly even if not a hair hight in back (it i understand right that it helps for doing trails with a little more height up front?)

I want to keep my lift way under the 3 inches so that I hopefully don't have any problems that arise on my new 2015.

What would be the most OEM or OEM equivalent to get what I am looking for? I did search for baja and pro lift kits but found nothing from toyota (which it doesn't really have to be from them but would be nice).

Thanks for the noob questions and I did truthfully search so please no flaming.

    Yes sir
    :bananadead:hehe flaming:bananadead:

I don't know a lot about the baja but icon or OME are both solid lift kits, you can decided how hight you want to go with them. With the OME lift, you decided which coils you want etc.

    OME info:http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/258245-old-man-emu-questions-answers-pictures.html

    Icon info: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/48925-icon-lift-kit-toytec-lift-kit-2.html

Hope this helps a bit! Use the info you gather there and try a website like wheelersoffroad.com to get more specifics

not looking for a flame war as my warm welcome, just some help, or a point in a good set up to give me the same look. I don't mind spending a bit more for a legit set up. Just came from 15 years of sports cars, traded the S4 for this truck actually so bare with me while i catch up on my knowledge.

Part number for the TRD Baja suspension kit is shown in the first picture of the first post...

Plug that number into your browser...boom!

I would give yourself a good month of researching. Icon and Fox are great. OME is great. Give yourself some time on the site and you will figure out where to find all the info you need.

trying to read the threads linked above but they don't make sense to me yet. I have a few months before lift so I will keep researching.I just know I want to do it right the first time with good products then have to change it several times.

You won't go wrong with OME. I researched for months and worried like you about "messing up" my new truck. I went ahead and did the full OME lift and it has been awesome. It rides so well and gives me the clearance I need/want. Also, it's cheaper than Icon and requires less maintenance. Icon/Fox will require you to rebuild the shocks every so often. More frequently if you live in a road-salted, winter environment.

    Yes sir
Sorry, had to include the flaming bananas :D. I'm not super familiar with the icon lifts but I know the old man emu (OME) lift isn't adjustable. You change your coils which give you the lift, different coils give different lift as well as they have different spring rates. The 884, 885, and 887 coils have the same spring rate but give different lift heights. I forget what the 884 lifts to but the 885 is like 1.5-2.0 inches and the 887 coils are 3 inches of lift. 886 coils are if you have over 200 extra lbs of weight in the front such as a winch or armour. The kit will also include front and rear shocks and you can decide how you want to lift the rear via an add-a-leaf, dakar leaf pack, blocks (which would be the worst option for the rear lift).

Like I said earlier, wheelersoffroad.com has all this stuff and Dan is really helpful/ they have great all around customer service. That kit will be like $700-$1000 I'd say depending on what you choose (i.e. an add-a-leaf is like $150-$200 compared to the dakar leaf pack which is $400 ish.

You can also go with just a set of bilstein adjustable shocks, should be like $450 ish for all 4 shocks. You can also find them in a kit but again I haven't looked too deeply into them.

Now, if you want an even better set up, you can look into fox or king shocks which I think are adjustable, can't remember though. But that would be more for serious off roading.

Search the suspension section there are tons of opinions but OME is the best! Lol

    884's give 2"'s I know cuz I have them.
    885's give 2.5"
    885's w/1/4" top plate for 3"
886's 2.5-3" with heavy front bumper and winch

I currently run 884's w 1.5" aal sit level with topper and body armor rear bumper 22.5" from center of hub to fender front and rear. This height should match the Baja or pro.

Since I was young, so let's say 20yrs or more ago, I was driving an '83 Toyota 4x4 and researched lifts, off roading and such and Old Man Emu has been the most proven lift that I have ever seen. Camel trophy trucks, to rock crawlers to daily drivers/weekend warriors OME is the bees knees!!

Mind you I am going to add the 1/2" top plate, spc uca's and dakars, ubolt flip kit, & sway bar relocation kit. To get to where I should have went in the beginning.

    Yes sir
and 887's give 3 inches, same spring rate as 884's and 885's.

Keep in mind that a good coilover assembly will always be in the back of your mind. I had installed one of those bilstein/OME type lift in the begining and I ended up selling it and buying Icon coilovers. Make sure you buy aftermarket upper control arms so you can get the alignment you're looking for.
You might be satisfied with an OME or Bilstein type lift, I just wasn't and would have saved a bunch of money if I had just bought all that stuff from the beginning.
You can get a little better travel #'s with UCA's and an extended travel coilover.

So beware of the OME kit on the 2015. At least earlier in the year there was a problem mounting the rear nitrochargers on the 2015 because the mounting point slightly changed on the 2015 (apparently). Not enough change to affect the stock shocks nor any monotube shocks like ICON/Fox/King. But for the "fat" twintube shocks like the Nitrochargers the new bracket interferes with the shock body and won't fit - at least on some 2015 trucks. Here is a thread with the guy who had a problem and I saw at least one reseller was saying not to use Nitrochargers on a 2015. Not clear to me whether this affects all 2015 trucks or not. So be forewarned!

    Welcome Devil Dog!

As painful as it can be I have to concur with teneighty and recommend researching. I research everything I do nearly to death, and spent several months on the lift topic alone before settling on my setup.

In short, OME is a solid lift that won't break the bank and of course King, Fox and ICON are tried and true but at a much higher price point. Good luck!

Welcome! I concur with teneighty and Josh. I spent weeks researching lifts and ended up going with OME due to it fitting my budget and needs. I may go with Icon coilovers in the future, but I have been really satisfied with my OME lift.
