quick question here. I have a 99 Tacoma 4cyl 2.7 and I had eibach coils on order but after some talk the sales rep. For toytec talked me out of them because for the 2.7 this causes too much lift. Is there anyone running this set up with any problems?!

    hey,
i would say it depends on what your going for. if youre wanting a lift then get them but if not then dont. As for the too tall... they are 3" lift coils. The 2.7 shoulnt matter for lift or coils as much as it would size of tires you want to run. So with that said if your looking to lift and go with same/bigger size tires id get them. But if your just replacing factory coils and dont want lift id look at there OME coils. I believe they have some factory size. Hope this helps a little. Any questions just ask.

Were they coils for a 6cylinder? Or were they for a 4cylinder?

    A 3" lift for a 4cylinder VS 3" lift for a 6 cylinder could make a difference.

I remember guys taking stock OEM 6cylinder coils and putting them on the 4cylinder trucks and gaining 1" of lift.

Yeah i have a 4cyl they said i might get closer to 4' because of the truck being so light. And was told the OME 880 with my bilsteins set at half notch would give me the 3' i wanted, but that just doesn't seem right to me, i keep reading the 880s give 1.5' max lift

Thats what my initial thoughts were but then I was told otherwise, decided to come here and see if anyone was running the eibachs on a 4cyl with any problems?

For what its worth... I had 881's on my 96 (3.4L 6cylinder Extended cab). It gave me about 2" of lift.

I'm currently at about 2-2.5" with the 5100s set at the top notch. I'm wondering if the 5100s set at 1.5" plus the 1.5" from the 880s will make the 3"? I doubt it works like that it'd be too ideal for this situation haha

Those eibachs are 620lb coils. They will ride really rough on a 4 cylinder and probably exceed 3 inches of lift. My 881 coils are 500 lb and they are pretty stif with my 2.7

Really? Alright well now I just have to see how to get more than 2" of lift out of the 880s. I'm wondering if I can set up my 5100s at the halfway notch or something to gain a little more lift out of those coils.

I would say ...If you're running a 'lift coil' - DO NOT adjust the 5100's.

The coil seat (the pad/shelf on the shock tube where the coil sits) is not designed to take such pressures. When you have a lift coil and you adjust the 5100's - that puts an EXTREME amount of pressure on that coil seat - it can BREAK off the shock. I've also seen pictures of broken mounting posts too.

I've seen this happen probably 10 years ago ...on a 1st gen truck. They had something like a 2" lift coil and put a 1" spacer inside the coil assembly (same idea). The shock seat broke....

Personally....do some research on the coils. Find a coil that'll give you 3" and leave the 5100's set at zero.

Right on good to know. I did some research and came up on the toytech/eibachs but now I'm in this pickle so I have to look for something else. Any ideas?
