I've done so many times without issue. Check to make sure the oil dipstick, brake fluid and power steering fluid caps are on tight and use the low pressure nozzle or stand further back from the engine bay if using a higher pressure setting. If you do this, you should be fine.

I've been using the old plain Dawn dishwashing soap (without any bleach) on the engine of all my cars for years. That, some warm water and a tire brush, to get into tight spaces, keeps things clean. Cold water would probably do just as well.

I don't have any pictures of the Tacoma but I'm thinking it does a fairly nice job on my 19 year old Corvette.

You might want to pick up a pair of microfiber gloves. Makes cleaning cables and hard to reach areas very easy. Put on thin latex gloves first to protect your skin from chemicles.

I use the engine cleaner at car wash, and then just rinse it out.

I just sprayed some all purpose cleaner around and hosed it off. Came out like new. I was a little worried about it starting wet but no problem. I guess those days are over. I keep reading about Dawn in a lot of posts for detailing. I'll have to remember to try it.

Ok, Did as you suggested, I live on a short gravel road so my engine will get dusty, So I took my wifes 05 Jeep liberty up to the car wash in a near by town and left it running and washed it not getting too close, I also just bought a 200mph blower (sears) and took it with me and blew it off real good, drove home and it looks new again.. But I'm thinking if I stay on top of the dust with that blower I may not have to spray it or as often..
Again thanks to all for your ideas and support...

As far as I know my fuse box is left of the steering wheel on the inside of the cab behind a little change/glove compartment. I have a 2.7.

I usually spray it down with diluted simple green let it sit for a few minutes then rinse it off. Really soap the radiator/AC condensor real good to remove the bugs. Then I use car wash soap and an old wash mitt and get what I can reach. I do it every couple of washes. Still looks new!

You can just get some engine degreaser. Maybe alittle expensive, my brother owns a detailing company so when I'm home I just get to use all his chemicals for free :p
