I have been noticing that most people around my area that drive tacomas, wave to each other when driving down the street. I know that this was a "Jeep" thing on a couple other forums. I was just wondering if this happens in other parts of the country, or even if it is just an offroad thing?

I haven't really noticed that here.
Shit, if I waved to every tacoma driving by me my wave would get worn out.

I'll usually nod at most all Toyota rigs that are modded not just Tacomas, been doing it since my first 1st gen 4Runner.

I wave all the time to other Tacoma drivers...regardless of the build (I'm still stock for the time being).

    Later.

I usually wave at modded Toyotas but everyone around here looks at me with the "ive got a better rig than you" look but when I drive my jeep waves are every where.

I dont wave at anyone as most people are not familiar with the old jeep wave thing and are weirded out.

I have given a sarcastic thumbs up to a few Tacoma drivers who think they are too cool for school and drive like ASS here in San Diego though.

Haha I'm in SD too and people really dislike acknowledging other people with nice trucks I guess I drive like an ass sometimes when I'm in a hurry though

I was born & raised on a very rural island. Every time you passed someone on the road, they would wave at you. Of course you would know at least half of them. Some people still do it to this day.

I give a thumbs up when I see someone in a modded Tacoma or 4Runner to let them know their rig is awesome. Sometimes I get a thumbs up back and sometimes I get a "what the hell is that guy doing" look, but it doesn't matter to me. I laugh when I get that.

Very rural island? I think at that point people would wave to each other just acknowledging that you are another person that has a vehicle for a means of transportation.

I've never gone out of my way but I've had some people wave. Usually like the 16-21 year old crowd.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I typically do the "two-finger lift" off the steering wheel, or a nod of approval.

I love this HiLux Commercial; it explains the "proper" way to do it :):
