3k oil changes are at the very least a complete waste of your hard earned money.

I get what you are saying, but just saying it has twice is assuming filter media is the same material. Idk if it is or not. Curious here but how thick is each material, what are the sizes particles that can be filtered by each. Again just saying the toyota has twice the square inches means nothing. I'm not backing k and n I'm just curious.
I wonder who makes the toyota filters?

My truck will use the toyota filters no matter what as they are cheap.

I think the Toyotas are made in Thailand? Not sure on thickness - does he address that in his videos?

On something such as an oil filter, I'm always going to go with the guys who designed my motor, and definitely not the guy next to the dealership yelling "Buy my product - the gainnzzzz!" Snake oil through and through.

I buy wix filters by the case, and don't worry about filter failure. Whatever makes you happy in filter and oil selection. While there a many brands of filters and oil, very few are truly awful and some are better than others. Mobil one is reasonable in cost and makes me happy.

$ 80 = super high brother. That would be almost 2.5 oil changes for me.

Do yourself a favor if you want to continue with the ludicrious 3K oil changes and go to mobil 1 and save yourself $50 each change.

Let me preface this by saying your truck your money, but here is some math. Lets say you drive your truck for 200,000 miles. That is 67 oil changes every 3k or 40 every 5k. Royal purple oil change every 3k $80x67=$5360. Mobil 1 or similar every 5k $35x40=$1400 and it is still overkill according to black-stone analysis. Once again to each their own, but IMO that is $3960 id rather spend on something else.

As for the OP, I am not going to use my free oil changes for that exact reason. Those guys don't care about my truck, but I do.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
When the new oil and filter start to get dirty I change just the filter, again. IDK about 10k oil changes but I let engine debris and/or the look of the oil and/or the smell of raw fuel tell me when it needs to be changed.

Sorry to take so long to reply to all of these responses to my questions (May lady Luck Bless you all and keep you — but but beware, she is a hot but bitchy divine redhead and you do not want to wake her up from her long afternoon naps with anything trivial, LOL). There is another factor, however, re all the replies regarding too-frequent oil changes and the waste of money. That has to do with the idea that the more you fuck with your vehicle, the more mistakes you can make, or, the off-chance you are using an accidentally bad product which escaped the oil or filter manufacturer's quality control. Toyota's are tough (which was recently proven to me by having to use double-low 4WD on my 2011 Tacoma for the first time in a rough situation. Never had another pickup deal so well without a grunt)! The replies regarding no oil draining from my oil filter after it sat for 3 days, was the most re-assuring of your replies. I was worried about something wrong with my oil pressure system since the warranty has run out. Thank you all for being so helpful and being part of this forum. Put my thanks under your Christmas tree. It's free, and no receipt required to keep and turn in if you want to dispute the quality of it. And "Happy new year" to everyone. May the following months bless you with happy moments of pulling Ford or GMCs out of the ditch. The frosting on the cake? Pulling one of those self-contained, behemoth, self-propelled tourist RVs out of the ditch.

I tried pulling out a domestic brand truck, but my frame snapped on my Tacoma.

Seems like 3 oil changes in 4 years is a kinda low, might want to change it every 6 months regardless of mileage. I have no experience with this so I may be wrong.

What he said, unless you run synthetic, then annually is probably fine.

Oil is oil and filters are filters...just use what your owners manual calls for and be done with it. Those Japanese engineers know more than guys on forums. Toyota doesn't want any engine warranty claims.

I can't. I am self employed and my boss is an asshole. PS: "Bullperry" is a character in one of my crime novels. He bad. He lets his girlfriends run around public beaches naked.

PS: Info in "tons"... ? Love it, but you ever try to hook a chain to some? Even if you could, info is punishable by death in some countries. And chicks naked on the beach? splat!

there is also no reason to take a shower everyday but people do that too. if i want to waste my money ill continue to do that. and im pretty sure everyone is aware that synthetic oil last a lot longer than 3k miles. K&N filters are double the price of purolator because the wall thickness is double that of the purolator (makes sense)

Lab results from mobil 1 vs royal purple:

"The Mobil 1 5w-30 had a TBN of 3.9 at 4000 miles and Royal Purple had a TBN number of 2.6 after 4000 miles.. So what does this mean?? The Mobil 1 had more life left in it.. I could go to around 7000 miles on a change.. The DIC read 30% oil life remaining when I changed the oil at 4000 miles on both samples which is right on Par with the TBN number.. The Royal Purple had a lower TBN number than the Mobil 1.. So I suspect maybe 5000-6000 miles of total life from Royal Purple, before it goes under the 2.0 TBN number."

mobil 1 is great oil... but as science has proved royal purple is superior in longevity.

and go ahead and stick a foot in your mouth because i only pay $40 for my 6 quarts of royal purple AND the K&N filter. thats pretty much the same a Mobil 1. I only drive the truck less than 100 miles a week. so thats only a few changes a year. so why not change it every 3k miles.

so now that the facts are laid out lets hear from the ones who like to try and disprove facts with their opinions. starting.........NOW
