LED headlight bulbs

Has anyone changed their headlights to LED's I'm tired of buying expensive bulbs for them to only burn out. I recently replaced my interior bulbs to LEDs and would like to also do the exteriors starting with the headlights. I don't want to replace the actual headlights just the Bulb if anyone has knowledge about this please let me know

 

Are you wearing gloves when you change the bulbs? It sounds like you've replaced them several times.

 

I just replaced my headlights to LED, about to go LEDs in the fogs as well.. I am also working on writing a review for the company and posting it. LEDs can be tricky... don't go cheap, if you go cheap, you'll get cheap results... like light scatter instead of focused beams... similar to add on HID kits. I boils down to that just about all chinese LED bulbs suck both in light throw / cutoff and reliability.

What's not to like? LED bulbs will last a long time and these bad boys don't have fans. I'm seriously considering a set to replace my OPT7 LED headlights that put out a lot of glare. I was thinking projectors but they are either the cheap Chinese water leaking things, or $800 custom builds that cost way more than these.

 

Check out these LEDs, I just reviewed the H4 bulbs for the 2nd gen tacomas. A few guys have already completed reviews for the 3rd gens as well. The company is RSI, and I have not questioned their quality yet!

Even if you buy the 300 dollar a pair Philips LED bulbs never going to be 100 percent happy because they won't work that good in a reflector housing. Besides who the eff wants to spend that kind of scratch on "bulbs?" I would spend a little more and go HID projectors, you won't be disappointed. I just happen to know a guy who makes them. You can do a soup to nuts set for probably under 500 and the HID bulbs last usually as long as a good led.

 

I've gone through several Led headlights, i've yet to have any last more than 6 months, and most less than that.

 

Buy opt 7. My wiring goes through hell and I have had no problems. Great price, bright as hell. Amazon sells em

 

Any pics of the output. Bright is great but if the light isn't pointed in the right direction it's worthless, no to mention blinding other drivers

How bout these;

 

I have them in and light output is scattered but still tons of light on the road. Better than Hids that I have seen. I think the pic might have my light bar in it too. But it's a nice spread of light with just the bulba

 

My OPT7s have well over a year on them. Good, solid LED headlights, no flickering and no fan failures. They are bright as f**k and light up the road like a Christmas tree. My only disappointment in them is that they light up everything else as well and most likely glare the hell out of oncoming drivers. Well, I can't have that happening, so that's why I am pissing away another $200 on the Phillips LED lights.

@hyper15125, the projectors look great and I'd love to have a set. The problem is, I can't seem to find anyone who will build them with LED bulbs and not crappy HIDs. Our trucks use a single bulb for low/high beam (as if we all didn't know, LOL) and HID capsules can't do that reliably. We get stuck with crap like flapping shutters (my OEM Ford Mustang HID headlights made by Valeo have these, they are sheer crap) or multi-ballast bi-xenon setups that invariably cough out with maddening regularity. My friend's Dodge has these, and he is ready to air drop them on the Chinese Embassy they are so bad.

So what to do? In desperation, I am resorting to Phillips LED bulbs, and I blew a couple of hundys. Wish me luck!

 

What’s everyone do with their LED drivers? I just zip tied mine to the headlight cord that I plugged bulb into. Does anyone think this a fire hazard?
