HID with daytime running lights question

I ordered a set of HIDs for my 2010 taco, i heard that there will be issues with the hid flickering because of the daytime running lights... Is this true? Or is there a fix.... Thanks

 

Get a seperate relay that goes from the battery to the HIDS. Will never have a problem flickering unless your ballast goes to crap.

I haven't heard of anything like this...

 

neither have I... I ran HIDs with my factory day-time running lights and didn't have any problems. You'll be fine.

 

Get the relay.

 

First, definitely use a relay. Secondly, you shouldn't have flickering due to DRL's since the Taco's with DRL's are in the turn signals. You only run into issues on vehicles where DRL's are in the low beam lights.

Correct. DTRL are in the turn signals and not in the low beams.

 

Well the DTRL's are tied into the headlights. They go off when the headlights are on. So, there is a relay trigger for them. DTRL's are usually the high beam of vehicles that use a 2-bulb system. Toyota just did it a little differently and used the turn signal bulb. While others use separate LEDs.

 

well i installed my hids, iam running 6k bulbs, do you think i need to worry about my fog lamps melting?? Any one have any problems like this..

 

Ed, if you replaced your factory headlight bulb with HID bulbs and ballast, I don't think you need to worry about the fogs at all.

The Fogs are powered with their own circuit and 15A fuse and were only connected to the headlights through the FR relay.

The fog relay was there to sense voltage so you could only run the fogs when the low beams were active. Many of us have modified our fog relay to sense voltage from the ignition circuit. With the Anytime foglight modification we are able to run the fogs independent from all other circuits (assuming the ignition is on).
