Also black fluid, that's turned that black already after a short time would probably indicate you have a leak that contamination is entering from somewhere. Leak would also mean low pressure which could cause the pedal to stick.

I live in texas where is mostly above 70 all year round. This is my first year owning a manual drive taco. It fell to 20°f last weekend and my clutch pedal started sticking exactly like what was described in this thread. And who ever said that is only the cold weather is absolutely right. My clutch pedal has been fine up until it got super cold a couple days ago. I just had to let my truck warm up and drive it some to get it working right again. Hasn't done it since the weather warmed back up here. I believe it is the cold fucking with the fluid, although, my old Mazda trucks were hydraulic clutch and they never stuck like this in the cold so idk. Then again i just so happened to get clutch fluid flushes, due to leaks, on both Mazda trucks before my first winters with each of them. I always fill it with synthetic dot 3. No particular reason really. So maybe that's why those didn't stick and my taco is.

Bit of an old thread that you dug up there.
Slave cylinder is the usual culprit when the clutch doesn't pop back up properly. The rubber seal on the piston gets less pliable and will resist sliding in the cylinder.

Yeah i found the thread through Google. I didn't think to look at the date. That also makes since. I read in this post something about using synthetic dot 3 and it reminded me if my old trucks. I thought all dot 3 was synthetic. Guess that's not the case. And will this rubber seal ever break-in to where it won't stick in the cold? And does this rubber seal also cause a squeaky clutch pedal when temperatures are really warm? My clutch pedal will creak and squeak in hot climates. It's only at 15,000. I'm even wondering if it's a serious issue need fixing.

That is rather surprising for such a new Taco. I had the same issue here recently on my 09 so I sprayed the clutch pedal spring with some lubricating oil and that fixed the squeak and helped the sticking. The only way I fixed the sticking completely was by adjusting the pedal to the right setting because it gotten slightly loose. It got pretty cold here in Georgia recently so I'm assuming that was the culprit. I'm glad it wasn't the slave cylinder in my case.

The squeaking is completely unrelated and won't even cause it to stick.
Take a peek up into the clutch pedal. If you look at the master cylinder rod, there is a ball up at the top. The ball fits in a cup in the middle of the lever. It is the contact point between the ball and the cup that squeaks. Just add a blob of grease up there to cure the squeak.

Thanks. I'll take a look up there. I know these 2 little things seem like way too small of issues to tell the dealer. Especially if it's a wick fix. The sticking only happens in the cold so I'm not worried about that. Then again fuck it... there's gotta be something wrong with my transmission. Because every other time i push the clutch pedal in to shift from 1st to 2nd, the damn truck will jerk really hard and make a loud bang sound, as if the clutch is getting stuck to the engine and slamming back with full force against the transmission. Almost like something is keeping the clutch from separating from the engine. Only when i push the clutch pedal in in 1st gear. Even if i just want to go from 1st to neutral. And i made damn sure my foot is off the accelerator before pushing the pedal in. And my gears will get stuck in 5th or 6th sometimes. But not often enough to where i know the dealer won't be able to recreate it driving it only once or twice. And when i accelerate in 2nd, sometimes the damn truck will bounce and hesitate and won't stop bouncing until i let off of the accelerator. Once i give it acceleration again, it goes away. I thought all these symptoms were just break-in symptoms of a brand new manual transmission which I've never driven before until now. But 15,000 miles later and these symptoms are still here, just not as frequent as they used to be. I'm just going to tell the dealer i have a malfunctioning transmission. Hopefully they replace it.

Ok, it sounds like your transmission is fine, your clutch is probably also fine, you may be having a problem with the hydraulics. All of your symptoms (except for the shaking, I'll address that later) sound like the slave cylinder isn't moving as expected for the clutch pedal position. First step should be to bleed the system, then replace slave cylinder, then replace master cylinder.

The reason why first and second gear stand out is only because of the different gear ratio. The lower the gear ratio, the more the event will multiply through the transmission.

Now the good news for this is that all of this work can be done without removing the transmission from the truck, that means that it isn't necessarily a "drop it off and come back next week" job, but rather a "bring it in and don't forget to bring a magazine to read while you're waiting" job.

Now the bounce/hesitation is something else entirely; you're hitting the giddy-up lever too hard for the road conditions. Your back wheels are actually jumping off the road!!! It hesitates because when this happens, the computer says no. That will NEVER go away. Pickup trucks have very light back ends.

Ok. I'm not too worried now. If it's just a clutch slave assembly issue, i don't see why the dealer won't mess with it. I'd do it myself, but I've never messed with a toyota clutch slave assembly before. I can imagine it's like all the others, but i also don't want to void any warranty. I'll have them see about that.

And as for the 2nd gear thing that makes since. Come to think of it I always wondered why this truck hardly ever peals out when i throw it second and gun it around the corner. Instead it will bounce like i described. How the hell i never put 2 and 2 together until now is beyond me.

In 2016 Toyota changed the manual transmission from the RA60 to the RC62F manual transmission , however they didnt change the clutch hydraulic levers . master cylinder or release bearing . With this said the 2016 will be plagued with the same squeaky clutch issue found in the 2nd gen trucks .

You can read about hundreds of sticky squeaky clutches within this thread

Uhm, you seem to have yourself a little bit confused there.
They changed the R155 to the R156 (FOUR cylinder engine). Slightly revised gear ratios, and updated synchros on 1st, otherwise exactly the same transmission. The "issues" page you link to from your R156 page is actually regarding the RC62 transmission (which is the 2016 replacement for the RA60 for the V6).

    You are correct sir !!
I started those links back when the new transmissions were first released . I will fix up the info to avoid misinformation . Thanks for the heads up

Are there any links about 3rd gen. manual transmissions getting stuck in 5th and 6th while on the highway? The first 3 times it happened i didn't really care because nothing bad cane of it. I was able to jerk them out of gear. However 2 weeks ago when i took a 3 hour road trip, the truck would not pull out of 6th. I was trying to down shift due to a steep incline. I got ran off the road by traffic, had to stop the truck, turn it off, take it out of 6th, then start it back up again. On a brand new truck. These are some deadly break-in symptoms, if that's what this is. This doesn't happen often enough to where i know the tech won't be able to recreate it by driving it a couple days. He'd have to drive it everyday for months. That's how often this doesn't happen. But it's still a serious issue. I'm going in there next weekend for my 15,000 mile service and have them look at it. I love the truck over all. I'm never selling it lol gonna drive the wheels off the fucker

Yes , there are links . Do a google search at Tacoma World . Stuck in gear is another common problem with the 2016 . Most members who reported this to dealerships got a new transmission .
