Sorry man. I totally would if I had the time. Family man here and dyno results, though cool, are at the bottom of my current priorities.

This was a very helpful and well-written review. Thanks for that!

I'm considering the Cat Back and CAI combo, and this definitely helped my decision. Do you have any other reviews or projects from your 17?

The other plans (aside from some cosmetic things like decal inlays and whatnot) I have done or plan to do is the A/C drain re-route mod (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rust-on-frame-with-a-c-drain-mod-fix.444138/) as well as the rear differential breather relocation mod (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-diff-vent-relocation.471649/). After that, it will be mobtown bolt-on sliders (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...no-drill-rock-sliders-for-2016-tacoma.404312/) and finally when my tires wear out, I'll be installing 33" tires (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/stock-trd-pro-with-255-85r16-cooper-discoverer-st.465472/).

Thanks for the kind words on the review!

Oops, I removed the original filter. Is it to remain on the bottom with the new TRD filter on top? Two filters in the box?

Not sure if this is a joke or not so I'll assume you're asking a serious question. You definitely want to remove the original filter. Both filters will not fit. The TRD filter replaces the stock filter.

Ah yes, sorry about the previous question - I'm not quite awake yet - the install was easy and I'm happy with the look and sound.

Also, hang on to your original filter for when you have to clean/re-oil the TRD filter. While the TRD filter is drying, you can re-install your original filter for a few days. Just store the original element somewhere where it won't collect dust (plastic bag, taped box, etc...). Looks like Toyota recommends cleaning/re-oiling the TRD filter once every 35,000 miles! So it may be a while before you need to use your stock filter again.

Nice man, I did the same. However the trd intake comes with the same performance filter that my pro came with. So now I have a spare new trd filter. Also, I can hear the a high pitched intake sound when I accelerate. Sounds like turbos spooling. Why can't I hear it in yours?

Interesting. Wonder if the dealership through in the TRD filter? Mine came with a standard air filter.

In regards to you question about the sound... I'm definitely not hearing a whining sound. Even with other intakes on other vehicles and though I can hear the "whoosh" or the growl sound, it doesn't sound like a turbo per se.

Question, when you installed your kit, did you replace the elbow that goes in the fender with the rubber air horn/accelerator? If not, the sound signature could be different.

I did, but I also installed a throttle body spacer. But I doubt it makes that noise. What does the stock filter look like?

The throttle body spacer could definitely give your intake a different noise. Not sure, man. The only difference between your pro and mine is the throttle body spacer. Everything else is the same. There's another user here who has some youtube videos of his setup (TRD Intake and TRD Cat back exhaust) and his truck sounds very similar to mine.

The stock filter is white. The TRD filter is red. Look at my first post and there's a picture with a comparison of the two.

Thanks, you're right. It's the spacer.

Did you install the spacer at the same time as installing the TRD intake? I know most will say TBS' don't add a benefit to our trucks. Wanted to get your take. However, if you installed both parts at the same time, it wouldn't be a very accurate statement as far as which parts produced the greatest benefits.

HI guys, I was going to buy the MBRP exhaust for my 2016 TRD sport, 3.5L but now thinking intake. I don't think I want to do both, since neither is really necessary. I'm just looking for a little more sound. A little extra power and better MPH would be A big plus. Any thoughts on what would be more effective? Looking at K&N or maybe the TRD offering, if the price is similar vs. the MBRP exhaust which is roughly $300. Thanks!

Read above. Exhaust is only really redone for better clearance and the intake and the throttle body spacer AFE Sliver bullet will give you a good sound apparently. Also I have read one guy got a after market muffler and just dumped the exhast pipe and a few guys on here liked that sound also.

You should have got an off-road and modified it! Just sayin!!
